Sex drive gone through the roof.

Kissmystarfish · 07/03/2024 10:21

I know this is a bit strange and probably stupid. But after having my children I lost my sex drive. I mean I could easily go a year without sex. Never felt like it ever.

abojt 8 weeks ago I was at the cinema and for some reason I just thought wow. I’m so lucky etc. I now can’t leave my husband alone! I mean to the point of twice a day. My orgasms are lasting about a minute

it’s so bad my husband has even asked me if it’s a symptom of something.

can it be? Can a sudden urge for sex all the time be something wrong? Hormones just back into place? I said if I could bottle the feeling and sell it I’d be a billionaire!

anyone have any idea please?!?!

Often a side effect of perimenopause.

Yep - a very nice side effect of perimenopause. Happened to me. Love it though. Makes my skin glow, I feel young and enjoy sex a lot.
Why do you want to let it go and why do you worry? It’s lovely you feel like this.

PoochiesPinkEars · 07/03/2024 10:29

OoooOOOooooo Great. Once the absolute drain of new motherhood fades you've got energy for other stuff. Add in an epiphany of how fab your DH is and 🎉

CampervanKween · 07/03/2024 10:44

I'm like this atm. Yes, hormones going crazy. Am hoping it lasts for the rest of my life as v enjoyable.

Honestly I think we are very lucky. For most women peri means sex deive going down. Hope it lasts for ever. I’ve heard it does though and gets even worse in menopause 😁

something2say · 07/03/2024 10:48

I've got it too, about 5 years ago I got a new vibe and suddenly had more orgasms per day and week than ever, and I have a new lover who is just the BEST. Peri has not been hard on me so far (touch wood!), and I'm almost 50.

teaandtoastwithmarmite · 07/03/2024 10:51

I'm similar. Unfortunately my DD 11 now has trouble getting to sleep so we don't have it that often but once we do I want it again and again.

Whatwaswrongwiththatusername · 07/03/2024 11:09

This happened to me quite a few years ago, quite a sudden change in behaviour. After various tests and seeing an endocrinologist it was discovered that I had v high levels of testosterone (and other hormonal changes) due to undiagnosed PCOS. Medication for the PCOS helped hugely. I also had other symptoms of PCOS (such as frequent ovarian cysts, acne, being a bit more hairy etc), so this was a sign towards those tests/diagnosis.

well I hate to be the "debbie downer" on this post but its your libido's last hurrah. thats perimenopause for you. enjoy it, it doesnt last and you can look forward to lube, cracking knee joints, hot flushes that last for years and years and your hair falling out :-)

justasking111 · 07/03/2024 11:23

As your oestrogen levels fall your testosterone takes over more. Enjoy it

Aquamarine1029 · 07/03/2024 11:51

Welcome to peri-menopause. Don't be surprised if other symptoms hit like a tsunami.

PermanentTemporary · 07/03/2024 15:07

Hit me at 49. Enjoy. At 54 it's not as crazy but still better than it used to be. Long may it last.

Kissmystarfish · 07/03/2024 22:35

Oh! I hope it doesn’t disappear as I do love the feeling. It’s like my husband is so intoxicating I can’t leave him alone. Kinda feels like I’m very clingy! Hehehe.

it’s like the honeymoon phase all over again after 20 years married!

oh gosh I hope it’s not a last hurrah. Kinda hope it lasts for years to come.

Don’t worry, you can include testosterone into your HRT regime during the menopause, I have. It’s bloody wonderful, I daren’t take the full dose it makes me too horny for my husband, he is 60 now 😂. That did make my G.P chuckle, I sometimes have to sleep in the spare bed so I’m not tempted.

Well, I'm 56, post-menopause and my libido hasn't last hurrahed yet. Unfortunately, I'm single so have to rely on battery power.

PicaK · 08/03/2024 19:36

Peri - as other people say be alert to being hit by the other symptoms.

Sadly I cannot take HRT!

I do, however had an endocrine doctor for another disorder who I can see privately.

I will ask him.

Aww, this is quite lovely and I really hope it lasts for you! If I wasn't on the app and had the ability to "like" - or whatever options are available -this then I would 👍🏻👍🏻 and also the rest of you (of a similar "mature" age as myself and some of the others on here)who also still feel like this then I say "get in there!!!" 😂

flipflop76 · 12/03/2024 18:43

This is similar to me (thinking it must be HRT - I'm 47) but hubby and I haven't had sex for about 4 years since my daughter was born. I know he's up for it but I feel weird and wonder if I can still do it lol. Zero sex drive for years and now can't stop thinking about it!

GoodVibesHere · 12/03/2024 18:50

Yeh this happened to me with peri-menopause. It was so lovely and unexpected while it lasted (about a year)! But then came the sudden nose-dive. I've been through the night sweats and painful joints, I'm currently in the 'all men are pointless' stage. Oh and the insomnia. Hormones have a lot to answer for!

@Kissmystarfish @Snippit haha ladies this really cracked me up and I’m so happy for you! I am a bit younger but my mom is very very open and she experienced this as well! She was like I feel like a teenager all over again! I am truly hoping I inherited that 😜

@PicaK @Kissmystarfish the other symptoms seem quite alarming ugh, has anyone had a flash period!? Or several? Seems mortifying bleeding through everything at that age
