It was really very sad to see such a vibrant woman's life taken away so shortly after getting married and her baby's too. When you watched the trial it affected everyone in the court room at the end even the judge was distressed by it. But what stood out for me was the dignity and strength her mother had. The pain of losing your only child and soon to be grandchild, Her strength to talk about the case and go to court and sit and see him his family everyday was remarkable.

Agreed. I share your thoughts about her Mum. What an amazing woman. So articulate, so restrained. Her dad had quiet dignity too. Lovely family. How can they ever recover?

May Fawziyah rest in peace but I fear, at present, from what I’ve just read, the perpetrator is still being vengeful from his prison cell.

Biddie191 · 05/03/2024 14:30

I've not seen it - is it a true story?

MadamVastra · 05/03/2024 14:33

Yes it's true. I remember it in the news. Yet another case of women murdering scum. At least he didn't get away with manslaughter like the British airways killer.

and the murderers dad!!!!!!! I didn't get my 6.5k ring back. What a cunt.

rip Fawziyah and other victims of murder by men

Yirk · 05/03/2024 14:33

What a nasty piece of work the husband was, agree Fawziyah was a beautiful young woman who just wanted to have a career and enjoy life, her mother is awesome.

There's a thread about it in Telly Addicts topic.

Very sad, but how dignified were her family throughout it all.

I can see Arthur’s Seat from my house. I look out every night before bed and just can’t help myself but think of Fawziyah. It’s so fucked up what he did

BMW6 · 05/03/2024 16:09

I was so pleased they included the Imam telling the congregation that Islam abhors domestic violence and divorce is the solution to an unhappy marriage.

Pigeonqueen · 05/03/2024 16:18

I’ve just watched this today. His Dad asking about getting the engagement ring back because it cost him £6.5k 😳😳😳😳 Disgusting. You can see why his son became such a woman hating abuser.

MoonWoman69 · 05/03/2024 16:38

Her family were such lovely people, I feel for them.
I found it clever that she had the foresight to keep a track of the nastiness she received from him. I wonder if she hadn't recorded the phone calls and told her family and friends what was happening, whether the outcome would have been different in court. Poor Fawziyah, all she wanted was to be free and he took that from her.
Did anyone else think that in the last photograph on Arthurs Seat, he looked smug. Like he knew exactly what he was going to do?
He deserves to spend the rest of his life rotting in hell...
RIP Fawziyah 💐

Yes, that look was quite menacing. Her parents were stoic. I’m pleased her mum is giving talks to others about DV. Bless her.

Daleksatemyshed · 05/03/2024 19:38

So sad, such a shining, intelligent young woman, and so close to leaving him for good. Her DM was so strong, watching her give talks about DV at the end I think nearly all of the women listening were in tears.
I hated the FIL, trying to brush over the abuse, trying to say her family weren't entitled to make a fuss, they say the apple doesn't fall far from the tree and he certainly proved it

Rosiiee · 05/03/2024 19:43

Watched it today. How far along in the pregnancy was she? Very interesting trial!

HazelBite · 05/03/2024 19:51

I think it is a very telling warning I think she thought she had a plan to leave and was fairly in control but she probably didn't imagine he would do what he did.

ThatLoyalReader · 07/04/2024 10:57

Saw the documentary too and watching it reminded me of what I've been through. So glad I got out of it when I did. Been out for over a year but still have to relive everything in the form of an ongoing court case with ex husband who's been charged with ABH and coercive control which he has obviously pleaded not guilty to. Went through hell for 19 years of marriage. Lost contact with family. Physical, financial and mental torture. Wad like a puppet in his hands. Lost my self confidence and was always doubting myself. Felt i couldnt cope on my own. My fathers death when the ex never let me go to the funeral and oh yeah not forgetting the last beating i got from him was the final straw.
Thank God I have my two older boys who have backed up my allegations and have given statements, but he has still has the audacity to deny everything and it has now gone to trial at Magistrates. Courts have adjourned it for the second time in a year.
For people who are in a violent relationship I would advise you to get out. Its not gonna be easy but you won't have to worry about walking one egg shells all the time. You'll be free. Freedom is worth fighting for. If I can do it anyone can.

MoonWoman69 · 07/04/2024 16:44

@ThatLoyalReader I am so sorry to read that, but I am also glad to hear you're out of that situation now. Your sons sound like lovely young men, I'm glad you have each other. Best of luck going forward, stay strong 🌺

ThatLoyalReader · 07/04/2024 16:55

@MoonWoman69 thanks for the words of support. I intend to remain strong for myself and my kids. Nice to know there are people out there who are willing to give their support to people. The world is full of nice people aswell.
