Help with separating

NC'd as lots of previous posts are outing.

Finally made the decision to separate with H after many years of unhappiness.

Am I being very stupid but before you official file for divorce do you need any formal separation documents or forms? I'm trying to work out what the process of all this is. What do I need to do?

I'm not wanting to file for divorce immediately as I need to get my finances in order. Any help or guidance on what do you actually need to do to be officially separated?

Still living in the same house unfortunately as all money is tied up in it. Thank you

In the uk divorce is now no fault - a quick google search should be able to confirm (sorry I’m no good as tech / posting links) so I don’t believe you need to prove separation now. Hope this helps.
