Do you do any together?
How do you each find time amongst work and children if you have them?
do you take interest in each other’s hobbies?

No context really, I’m just nosy ! :)

Me
Rugby (and so associated training)
Running
Gaming

Him
Cycling
Football
Gaming

We don’t game together as we like different games, he sometimes comes to watch me play rugby, I sometimes watch him play football.

We both work part time, so that makes it much easier to fit in hobbies.

Mine - piano and gardening.
DH's - football (also largely his job), watching things on TV that I don't want to watch.

Occasionally we go to the theatre together (maybe 2 or 3 times a year). I cannot think of a single thing worse than sharing a hobby with my partner.

Me: riding/ looking after my horse, Walking and training my dog, reading. I’d like to hang out with @twistyizzy We seem to have hobbies in common!

DH: football. Playing it, watching it live and on TV, coaching it. Plus the odd bit of golf

Both: Long walks in the countryside followed by pub

We hardly see each other unless we book a weekend away or family holiday tbh.

Edited

And a similar amount of contact with our other halves 🤣 The only time we spend together is in holidays away from home

We both play in bands, and each practice one night a week. We support each other's bands by going to gigs. We met in a band. We're currently setting up another band together.

We like doing other things too but not things I'd describe as 'hobbies'.

I am tired just reading these, and so impressed by you all! I read (but mainly just sub-Bridgerton fluff from Amazon Unlimited (I have to read a lot of serious stuff for my job so I can’t cope with anything deeper), my DP likes to doom scroll expensive cars and pick what he’d like if he won the lottery. I have a very wide circle of friends so go out once a week either for a bun and coffee or a drink. Occasionally I meet other friends in London for an exhibition or a concert. I used to swim three times a week and do an exercise class twice a week, but I had COVID in November and although I’m recovered it seems to have drained my battery, so I don’t really have the energy to do as much these days.

My DP are together a lot. We tend to cook complicated meals together on a Saturday night - something like a Thai red curry from scratch; we go out to eat, and we go to quite a lot of gigs, including big ticket gigs such as The Killers or Foo Fighters, and occasionally we even go abroad to see a band we both like.

I ride horses and walk and wild swim. Dh does some mountain biking and a bit of climbing.

We both work really flexibly, so will go do something during the day in between work some days. Or after work/school while the other is home with dc or on the weekends. We do sometimes take dc along as they enjoy most of the same.

I did a walking holiday (with some wild swimming) last year and dh is going to take one of the dc on a climbing holiday this year, so any AL/holiday time we build it around what we like to do.

We don't really take interest in each others hobbies or do them together (other than maybe walking, we do go on walks sometimes together or with dc). I do make dh muck out my horses sometimes, so you could say he is forced to take some 'interest' in my hobby. 😂

Mine: Running, yoga, reading.
Him: Tennis, cars, anything sports or DIY related.

Both: Long walks with the dogs, live music, going to the pub, holidays although conscious that these aren't really "hobbies"!

We don't really discuss them as such but if I come back from yoga or he comes back from tennis then we'll talk about how it was and what we did (until we can tell the other one is bored anyway 😂)

VenturingOut80 · 20/02/2024 11:24

Me: singing (I'm in a group), yoga. When I get time to myself I'm happy to read or watch a boxset.

Him: gym, mountain biking, snowboarding, motorbikes, project cars, and youtube videos about all of these things 😂

Our interests are very different but it works. He comes to watch my group perform, I watch him racing his bikes.

When we were together we used to sail, club competitions only.
We introduced the DCs to sailing. A day at lake club kept us all involved.
Since divorce I still sew, DCs have left home (military) but keeping on family home as their base. Gardening and house take too much of my time.
