Can anyone advise over housing situation?

Two children, one 7 and one currently under 1. On maternity leave, living in partners house. My name isn't on the mortgage, relationship has broken down and I need to leave with the kids.

Where the hell do I start? I know I should have protected myself better but I have been very naive. Will the council be able to advise? Rentals round here are hard to come by, most don't want children and especially not single mums. Usual salary is around £30,000 per annum.

Are the kids your partners? Why are you taking them, why should they be uprooted?
Some will not want kids or single parent households but considering that's discrimination and illegal

You’ll get local housing allowance top up probably. Council should have list of places that accept it. You may need to go back to work early sadly.

The 1950s called, they want your attitudes back.
