How common are happy endings in massage parlours in the UK?

I'm away for work at the moment, boyfriend has called me after work this evening saying he feels very stressed and is going for a massage. He's driving into the city centre for it as the only place he can find that offers a late night, last minute appointment is in the city centre.

I may sound super insecure - so will preface this with that I normally don't have trust issues and have very good relationship - however I've got spidey senses going off!

What kind of massage parlour takes on a client at 7pm as a walk in? Surely only a seedy one that will offer sexual services ...

Or is this normal? I'm not a city girl so this seems bizarre to me tbh.

I would love to be told it's likely super innocent and that it's normal in the city to do this.

Surely if he we're going for a cheeky 'handy', he wouldn't have mentioned it at all?

7pm isn’t so late - places like Neal’s Yard offer massages until 7pm and I imagine some other reputable places go to 9pm. Find out where he’s going?

Even collages offer massages till 8pm. For those on the evening courses.

Most reputable places that offer therapeutic or deep tissue type massages have a few late nights a week so I wouldn’t jump to conclusions.

I have several friends who own their own businesses - beauty salon, reflexogy/holistic massage and sports massage - and they both often work til 9pm several times a week

Ok - thank you for your responses. He's a lovely guy, it's more the late-night, last-minute nature of the place that has given me a start. But maybe I'm being judgemental...

I've been for a massage at 7.30 at a lovely massage parlour round the corner. I'm absolutely certain they don't offer happy endings!

I’d ask which massage place it was and say my friend was looking for somewhere and wanted a recommendation

Ask the name of the place... For example if its called Aphrodites.. Well you know what kind of place it is. 😁

It's sad but legitimate places have to stick signs up to say they don't offer additional services

I know people who go to proper ones for genuine massages

My friend worked at a salon that used aveda products (smelt lovely) but the hand cream was called hand job and she’d have a whole shelf of it on display. Above foot job. Mainly it was smutty jokes but she’d get the occasional request.

I work as a massage therapist. If I had an appointment available, I would absolutely take a last minute booking. I can assure you there is nothing like a 'happy ending' happening with any massage therapist that I am aware of!

If he called it a 'massage parlour' as in your post title then that is referring to a brothel.
If he said he's going for a massage with a therapist then obviously it's entirely different and legitimate and as pp have said if dodgy why would he tell you.

Just ask him directly though he can't be so naive he doesn't know the connotations.

I asked him where he went and it's a wellness centre and all seems legit! He actually laughed when I told him about my doubts and said he would be very surprised if his aged 40-something, male sports massage therapist was giving quickly handjobs out for an additional £30 on the sly😅😂

He said he will take me when I'm home as it was a cracking massage. Was very lovely and reassuring and not judgey or unkind about my feeling insecure. I feel silly for ever doubting him now!

A sensible and mature outcome. Well done for asking and putting your worries to rest without blowing the whole thing up. And I think we avoided any calls on here for you to "leave the bastard", which is unusual.

I went for a Thai massage at a massage parlour once. On the wall was a laminated sign which said, "please don't offend us by asking for any extras at the end of your massage, as you may be embarrassed by our response"

At the end of my massage, she offered me a hand job out of the blue! Lol.

I've got a close male friend that lives up near Glasgow. His FIL had been for a massage to a Thai massage parlour relatively near them and said it was good. Friend had been complaining of a sore back sometime in late November, and was gifted with a massage at the same massage parlour from his wife's parents (would have been at the suggestion of FIL).

Friend went for the massage and much to his surprise was also 'gifted' with a happy ending. He had NO idea it was going to happen. Never asked for it. But did say it was amazing. He went back again a few months later, and never mentioned what happened previously or requested anything else other than a massage. But once again he received another happy ending. Completely out of the blue and at no extra charge.

He tried his luck again a third time a couple months later, but this time they asked if he wanted one. He said he kind of mumbled 'ok' and then they told him there would be an extra fee so he told them not to worry about it and never went back.

My point of this story (don't even get me started on whether I agree with it all etc) is that the place looked like a legit massage place, and must operate as one most of the time, but there's obviously added extras that can be offered if they cuz sus the clientele out or if they ask. I can't imagine the FIL received one and then thought hey I think my daughters husband would love it here
