Should alarm bells be ringing?

My mum just messaged asking if DP has a new number as his name didn't come up in her phone when he messaged about DS the other day.

I assumed it was my mum as her phone is a bit weird at times eg. Seems to go straight to voicemail when I ring her.

She sent a screen shot of the messages and she's right it's a completely different number to the one I have.

A second phone wouldn't make sense as he wouldn't message her from a second phone. But is it possible to have two sims in one phone? That's the only way I could imagine someone getting mixed up and sending from the 'wrong' number.

I feel sick at the thought and really hope there's an explanation. I'd had such a great weekend with him and friends and now I feel all over the place!

@Bookworm20 I'm glad you understood what I meant! I'm clueless about technology and a second number isn't normal to me so I really didn't know what to think for a second!

I feel so so relieved, talked to my partner about it too and his response was just what I needed thankfully Smile

My brother had this happen to him too a few years ago after he got a new phone/provider and somehow the number didn't port properly?? Apple though. If any apple users text him on his regular number he'd receive it fine, but when he replied it defaulted to being from the temporary number he got when changing phones/providers

Ok potentially good news, I remembered a few months ago when he changed phone providers it took a few days for his new number to transfer. I've just looked through my text messages and the number is the same as that one!

I still don't understand why that number would come up again now but that's made me feel like it could end up being an innocent explanation

It’s Almost certainly nothing to worry about.
A few friends have recently changed phones and now i’m getting messages on different numbers from them.
It’s something to do with the number being transferred to the new phone. I don’t quite understand it myself but it’s happened with 3 or 4 friends when they upgraded and got new phones.
