I have agreed to a date this weekend but really don't want to go. I said yes as I didn't want to hurt his feelings. I'm such a wimp 😔

So cancel

QuarterPastThree · 23/01/2024 23:11

You are a people pleaser, used to putting other people first.

The most important person in your life is YOU.

YesThatsATurdOnTheRug · 23/01/2024 23:12

You'll hurt him worse going and getting his hopes up anyway. Just text and say you can't make it now.

Scarletttulips · 23/01/2024 23:13

How would you feel making the effort to meet someone who doesn’t want to be there?

Who are you pleasing? Not you or him.

fewgoo · 23/01/2024 23:22

Ha ha, I miss Covid days, was such a good excuse!

You're just going to have to come up with something else....
Dead cat
Sick Gran
Car problems
Etc etc

SamW98 · 23/01/2024 23:22

Just tell him you’ve thought about it and changed your mind. Do it by text if you can’t face talking to him.

And draw up boundaries. No isn’t a hard word to say

B1rd · 24/01/2024 00:18

It is ok for you to say, sorry, but you're not the man for me. I;ve changed my mind. I wish you well finding your match.
If he comes back. Then it's ok to block him. Although, I would block him sooner than later.

Also, search google for assertiveness advice.

Aquamarine1029 · 24/01/2024 00:20

FFS, op. This is just ridiculous. So will you "wimp* yourself all the way to the alter? Tell him you can no longer make it and block. You don't owe anyone a single fucking thing.

They don't have to "come up" with anything. The fact they've changed their mind or simply say "no thanks" is more than enough.

Grendell · 24/01/2024 00:22

Here's your line - "I'm just not feeling it."

Thanks for all the replies. I've cancelled and will definitely work on being more assertive 😁
