OLD just for chatting?

Is it ok to join OLD with the intention of chatting only and not meeting? Or would that be odd? I’m not looking for sexual chat I mean purely friendship? I am not planning to date yet (or for the foreseeable) but do miss talking to men and don’t have any male friends so would it be weird? I would obviously be honest upfront

It’s not what it’s for. Find a friends platform instead.

I think there would be some men who would be overjoyed at this, unfortunately they'd mainly be the married/in a relationship ones who want to get their rocks off and feel "special", without risking physical cheating.

No don't it would be wasting peoples time who are actually looking to date someone. Join a hobby club.

No I don’t think that’s very fair on people though I guess if you write it on your profile clearly, but if you say chat only I can guarantee you’ll get sexual chat. Why does it have to be men you’re chatting to if not sexual and you want a friendships?

yea Dating sites are not for making friends with guys. In fact, most guys on dating sites aren’t even there for dating, just for sex!

Do you have children? FROLO is a single parenting app that has men and women on. It is very good for chatting. I made some lovely male friends on there.

Yes I do have children but I would like some friendships that aren’t based on children and actually want something away from children people I can talk to about other stuff one of the reasons I’m not looking for mum friends

There's a "Dull Mens club" group on Facebook which has lots of male and female members, might be with looking at if you only want to chat in a non sexual way.

Ummm... not sure why you think women only chat about children? Or why, if your not looking to date or have a sexual chat, it matters what sex the person is at the other end of the keyboard is?

Are you wanting to chat with single/ available men that you might want to date in the future or is it purely platonic friendship you're seeking?

OLD probably isn't the place, perhaps try an internet forum / FB groups based around a topic you are interested in and chat to the people/ men on there.

Sorry I don’t think that, I posted this in another group and they told me that that’s all I would get if I went onto old! Is men sending me dick pics apparently if I said I only wanted to chat they would take that as a green light! Not my words.

I also didn’t say women only want to talk about children just that I’m not specifically looking for parent friends as my children are too old to make friends through them and I’m looking for something separate to my children. Not parent friendships through children.
