I archived a WhatsApp chat a while ago and then went on to delete all the messages.
‘Anyway I have a notification that I have received a message in the archived messages. Question is if this person has contacted me again would it automatically go to archived messages or not ?

I think so. As you've archived the chat with them rather than archiving the previous messages

Can you not just open your archived folder and see who it's from? You can do that without reading the message if you don't want to

It definitely goes into archive if the original message has been archived.

You can open your list of archived chats and you'll see the message.
It used to be that a new message automatically shifted the chat out of the archived file, but this changed some time ago and now it stays archived.

Doesn't do that for me, If I get a new message it appears again

It's a box in settings. I have mine set so that an archived chat reappears if a new message arrives, but you can also set it so that the chat stays archived. In either case, the new message will still show in the same chat.

@thecatsarecrazy that's odd. Mine changed automatically, I didn't do anything. The only reason I know is when I see a number next to my archive. Funnily enough I've just gone to screenshot it to show what I see and I have a new message showing

You can change this feature in settings.
