Has anyone had a successful relationship as a result from the dating apps ?

Most of my friends in relationships met on dating apps. I think it’s much harder to meet people in real life now.

10 months ago I met the woman of my dreams - It was amazing and ended up being the best 9 months of my life - aged 50. Sadly despite things being so good between us, her ex came back on the scene and she thinks there is a bigger spark there than with me! She honestly was someone I would have married!

I met my DH on POF, 10.5 years and 2 kids later it was the best thing to happen to me.
I wasn't looking for anything serious at the time, and he wasn't my typical type but we just clicked. I'm glad I took a chance on him.
Don't get me wrong, we've had issues like every relationship has but we've been able to work through them and happier then ever, even with a newborn.

Met my DP on Tinder, neither of us looking for a serious relationship as such but 7 months later I couldn't imagine my life without him. After a terrible time in my marriage I joined as a way of putting myself back in the dating pool and feel very lucky to have met my DP.

My my DP on Bumble nearly 18 months ago now and he moved in 3 weeks ago. He's lovely! We are both 47 so not sping chickens!!

LoraPiano · 29/04/2024 16:33

In my friendship group, I met my DP offline and I am in the minority. Most people met online (or were together from university).

SamW98 · 29/04/2024 16:36

No I don’t know anyone who’s met their partner a dating app. In fact I don’t know anyone that’s even got further than 2/3 dates with someone from a dating app.

My sister when they first started been married 20 years .

Okigen · 13/11/2024 18:34

Yep, I met my bf and 2 other friends met their husbands.

Hoppy34 · 13/11/2024 18:41

My MIL met her husband on a dating app about 15 years ago!
also got several friends who have met people online

CallmePaul · 13/11/2024 23:26

Think I've said this before on here, but in my friendship & social group it's by far the smaller margin of people who didn't meet via OLD, has to be circa 20 plus that I know that have done it this way.

Never done it myself so can't comment on that bit.

i have two good friends that met their partners on dating apps. One couple have been together about 7 years, and the other a year. Both are 40+. I have been trying it myself and have met lots of nice men but no spark so far.

LulaBe · 14/11/2024 02:08

@WiseOldPerson join the dating thread on the Relationships board for moral support.

My best friend married her husband whom she met on Bumble. I met my partner online with the idea of being friends but it ended up being romantic and we are very happy

My thoughts always were to use the apps as just another way to meet someone rather than the only way.

Secondstart1001 · 14/11/2024 21:30

Yes! I met my dp on Match. Blissfully happy and together for 5 years, planning on marriage in a few years 🩷 But I did have to go through a bunch of weirdos before he found me luckily 😅

Tiggiwinklescousin · 14/11/2024 21:56

Yes. It was a niche app, not one of the big mainstream ones. We connected online mid Dec 2023, actually met on Boxing Day last year and married in April. So far so good! Would 10/10 recommend.
