Happy new year. Hope all on MN are doing well.
I was in a relationship and we took a break as he seemed so distant, that I felt it was for the best. He came back and said he had missed me, he realised his mistake so we've reconnected but over the past couple of week I went through a very difficult situation with my sister (mental health related) and he distanced himself a lot. He does shift work and i'm understanding of that but I spoke to him about it this morning via Whatsapp and his tone feels off to me. Would love some impartial advice on the messages below..... maybe I'm too emotionally dependent on him but I have always supported his stressful job and family issues he has so I expect the same back.
His responses when I questioned him not being in touch when all I wanted was an apology and an understanding of why.

He now says he wants to take a break to think and he will be in touch when his head feels better.
