How do you know you was ready to date?

I have been single for a long time, I keep wondering if I should date again but having children and no time off it will cost me a lot of money and effort to pay for babysitters so I’ve been putting it off and thinking about waiting till they are older but I’m not getting any younger and I worry by that time that it will be extremely slim pickings!! I don’t want to be in my 40s when I attempt to date again as I’ve heard how hard it is dating in your 40s. So would you wait and be a lot older and probably much less choice or looking at dating now and spend a fortune on sitters? 😕
