Why do I crave my family's approval? Especially when I've had alcohol

Everyone does, it's pretty much inbuilt.

Logically, we might not "need" it, but emotionally we want to be accepted, loved, positively viewed by our parents/families.

So when they withdraw their affection or approval or have never given it, it's a big hole.

Alcohol amplifies emotions generally.
