What does this song mean?

This might seem ridiculous but an emotionally unintelligent guy that I care about tends to play songs at me to communicate feelings.

He’s never actually said as much so it might be completely in my head too!!! 😂

Anyway. So we had an intensely emotional fling, I wanted more and he scarpered.

There is another women and the path of least resistance would be to make it work with her.

I haven’t seen him much recently. He’s been very guarded. I feel a bit like I’m being strung along and just when I’m over him, I see him and miss him so much.

He played this song.

Boyzone - Gave it all away

I’ve listened to it and it sounds to me like he implies the other women isn’t right for him anymore, he’s not letting me go, but then at the end it’s like he said he can’t give me anything ie, we’re over.

Please kindly indulge me.

What do you think of the song choice?

@Looloolo - it’s difficult but you need to find a way of extinguishing your feelings for this guy. He’s a huge waste of time. Step back and look at what he’s doing - he’s with someone else but sending you boy band tracks to keep you thinking of him because he can’t be bothered to find the words himself and make even that effort. And that makes him a cheat. He has nothing to offer you. Put him behind you. Find a guy who has some words of his own for you.

Forget about the songs. He sounds like a complete headfuck.

Start thinking about yourself and why you’re accepting this crappy treatment.

You deserve better, but you won’t find it whilst you’re stuck on this guy.

delete and block.

Edited

Yep, that sums it up.

I'm not familiar with the song, so I had to have a look at the lyrics. What the fuck is this? These are lyrics, they're phonetic sounds:

"Why hy' 'hy I lay my heart down on the floor
I showed you love, you wanted more re re
But I gave it all away (cry 'ry 'ry 'ry cry 'ry 'ry 'ry)"

My English teacherly interpretation of what I read is that the lyrics are hollow (and shit) and that this guy is a 11yr old girl from the mid nineties (and that maybe he has a crush on Ronan). Bin and run.

I asked my wife about this... the reason for this is that it was written by Mika (Grace Kelly)... listen to that song and you'll see the similarities.

I'm going to be a huge snob but I'd give a massive swerve to anyone who used Boyzone songs to explain their feelings.

🤣🤣

Hereforthedramaz · 16/12/2023 19:52

Um why do you think he's communication through playing songs?! How does he play them to you specifically!

Tbh I'm getting strong Enduring Love and de Clerambault syndrome vibes from this!

This reminds me myself in 1999 when a certain man I was so in love with and he just used me for cheap sex, played once on the radio in his car : I turn to you by Mel C and pointed at me at the chorus and I thought naively I’m the one forever and he was giving me the sign. I remember asking all my friends what that meant!

Sounds like me 15 years before 🤣

recyclemeagain · 16/12/2023 20:06

Have you considered replying to him with a simple YouTube like to: Not Big by Lily Allen? Because I feel that might work.
I've gone to the trouble of finding a video complete with lyrics so you can really drive the point home for the li'l guy.

PersephonePomegranate23 · 16/12/2023 22:10

Bloody hell, it means he's a loser 😂

blackbeardsballsack · 16/12/2023 23:27

What do you mean by 'plays songs at me' and 'has never said as much'? Are you stalking his social media and attaching meaning to the songs he has on his stories/statuses?

The cock trumpet plays a song in OPs general vicinity and OP takes it as a personal, hidden and secret message of the cock trumpets love and devotion to her whilst he's happily shagging the other woman.

Op also believes that the music in ASDA is played specifically for her and that the manager of her local store did indeed give her his heart last christmas but the very next day, she went to Tesco and threw it away.

If you are a teen then I get it but if you are not a teen, then give your head a wobble.

yhk · 17/12/2023 10:13

B...Boyzone?

Shouldershoulder · 17/12/2023 12:53

It's going to be tough going if you do get together and can only communicate via the medium of song lyrics . How are you going to ask him what he wants for dinner or can he unblock the sink ?

I imagine them using the old CBeebies "what's on your plate!" song every meal time.
🎶 "What's on your plate?"
"FISH FINGERS AND CHIPS!!" 🎶

For the sink issue they could use Nirvana's "something in the way". This could totally work 😄

Lifeasiknowitisout · 17/12/2023 20:30

The house at the back of us has a teenage girl who expresses her emotions through blasting songs.

We can tell if she has crush, fallen out with her parents, got dumped and so on. We can hear her life via song from bedroom window all summer. a teenager doing it, I can accept with a bit of good humour.

If it was a grown man doing it I would be crying with laughing. I am guessing he believes he is the main character in a book that’s mysterious and guarded and you think you are the women that comes along that he slowly lets his guard down for and becomes a hopeless romantic. But only for you! And together you will overcome any circumstance to eventually be together. And you will learn the language of communication via cheesy pop! It’s a story for the ages.

Doesn’t it make you fall about laughing?

Lifeasiknowitisout · 17/12/2023 20:34

Jesus wept! Just re-read the Op and he has let actually said he is communicating via music.

Op assumes his songs choices are all aimed at her?

I echo the PP. I want to know how you know he is playing music at you.

Are you outside his window? Are you sure it’s not just heart 90s/00s on the radio?

Justcallmebebes · 17/12/2023 20:35

What does it mean? It means he's a twat with really bad taste in music

Harsh but bloody hilarious! 😂
