Not mentioning relationship to online friend

Hi

Catching up with an old male friend, he had a dilemma. His DP has a hobby and through this has made some online friends. He has always encouraged this. But it has reached the point where she talks to one of her male friends several times a week, sometimes long conversations. He doesn’t know she’s in a relationship. She maintains that he does, but has never shared her messages, but reacts very strongly if he questions her, saying it’s just about the hobby and they’ve never met nor said anything inappropriate. She has two or three other male friends through the same and one other hobby and again never mentions her relationship status to them. Is this entirely normal? I have suggested not.

What makes your friend believe the man doesn't know she's in a relationship, if she says he does know?

He's got no right to read her messages.
He's got no right to insist she announces she's "taken" to every man she speaks to, either.

Either he trusts her or he doesn't.

If he doesn't he should split.

Not mentioning a relationship takes effort. Even just avoiding saying 'we' would be hard for most people. So while I do t think he has any right to read messages I do think that she isn't behaving brilliantly

He doesn’t know she’s in a relationship. She maintains that he does,

Where is the partner getting the information that this male friend doesn't know she's in relationship from, tho? She says he knows.
