I am currently off work due to stress after being bullied by a staff member I have put a complaint in.

Due to meet with a few people from work and old work Colleagues for drinks and meal next week.

One has said I hope you can come but no talk about work.

I get it but when asked how you feeling what do I say “well feel like shit, after physically being threatened and been bullied but not allowed to say, it’s affecting my life because it’s about work.

Am I right to feel upset? I don’t think this friend is being very supportive.

I think YABU. They’re planning a Christmas night out, not the sort of get together where you all talk about your problems.

For the majority, a no work talk rule will probably make for a better night out.

It’s often the case when there is a grievance that employees are forbidden from talking about the grievance (as they may be called to give statements). Very often the person who lodged the complaint and the accused are also asked by HR not to discuss details of the case with anyone. So it feels shitty but is unlikely to be personal.
