Confused by neighbour/date

I’ve gone out four times with my male neighbour. We connected instantly and had a lot of things in common. Lots of laughter and conversations. I am however, very confused by his behaviour. Is he interested or not? On date number three, he initiated a more serious conversation with regards to seeing each other. We both agreed to continue seeing each other and that we were both serious. After me returning from my trip to London, things have not gone great. We went for a late walk, but otherwise haven’t seen each other. He takes days to answer a simple message and I’m not sure what changed. When asking him he only says he’s busy with work and finishing his thesis (we’re both in grad school). I’m confused as to why he would initiate a more serious tone to our relationship while at the same time pulling back. Thoughts? Thank you!

My first thought is he’s either met someone else or while you were away he’s had second thoughts.

Thank you. Good point. I was just confused since he intiated the ''where are we going talk'' for it to lead nowhere lol.

Probably what others have said.. but when is his thesis due? If it’s fairly imminent, say in the next couple of months, then I’d suspend judgement.

I think that his "where are we going?" chat was more of a "where do you think we are going?" chat, and he didn't agree with what he heard. He's backed off, gone cool, the reason doesn't matter.

Words are easy to say but actions are everything, and it's his actions that will tell you what you need to know.

You are right. After our talk he did say we should go to a fancy restaurant when I'm back in town. That hasn't happened. Actions over words, yes. Thanks.

Deadline was just now and I haven't heard from him in a week, so most likely he's not interested.

If his thesis deadline was just now give him another couple of weeks to recover and then make decisions! He should have forewarned you that he was going to drop out of contact but I really doubt he’s chatting anyone else up. I’m not saying chase him or anything but I wouldn’t write someone off because they’re not pursuing while in the final stages of writing up.

Thanks. I guess I'll se what happens and if I hear back from him or not. I guess I had too high hopes, as he seemed to decent - but that is on me. I'll take a step back.
