I wonder about separating

Been married a few years, we have a toddler. Initially I found DH warm and nice but now I keep finding myself wondering about separating, not over anything major just I don't enjoy his company, he makes every disagreement into a point scoring drama, won't ever say sorry, I see him as inconsiderate, selfish, more inclined to be lazy than to contribute. Maybe I've brought out the worst in him.

If left I'd want to move closer to family and friends, an hour or more away. I'd like to take our toddler but he wouldn't want me to. We own our home together, both work, toddler goes to nursery locally.

What do I need to think about? Any wise words from mumsnet please?

Is it worth trying relationship counselling to see if things could be improved?

If he stopped the point-scoring and started contributing more, would that bring it back for you, or do you think it's gone too far? It might be that he would be wiling to try to address the issues if he knew you are thinking of leaving.

There are prohibited steps orders that can be used to stop one parent moving too far away, (but to me an hour doesn't sound huge, but not a solicitor).

Thank you, all useful points. Hadn't heard of those orders, that's food for thought. We tried counselling before and it didn't help but maybe another try could be worth it.
