How do you leave??

How do you leave an unhappy marriage when you can't afford it?

I've finally had enough of my husband's constant aggression, moodiness and making me feel worthless. I have 3 children and work FT but can't afford to either rent or buy a 3/4 bed house on my own.

How do others manage?

Thankyou Sad

Have you as yet sought legal advice?. I would do this asap particularly in the event you have not seen a solicitor.

I would also seek support from the likes of Womens Aid because quite apart from his aggression his moodiness is an example of emotional abuse towards you and in turn the kids. Never be afraid to call the police either if you feel unsafe.

Some possibilities:
You rent/buy a two bed and you sleep in the lounge

If your current house is owned, your husband leaves and you keep the house at least until your youngest is 18

If your current house is rented, he could agree to pay a share of the rent as part of child support

Once you have split up your self esteem will likely improve so you might feel like applying for a job with a higher salary

Secret savings! You can claim UC if you meet the threshold. Get all your paperwork together and see what you're entitled to. Living in a small flat for a short time will be worth it.
