Baby's name change to partner?

Hey

Me and my partner had a baby this year and we double barrelled her surname.

We have only been together two years and I felt it was the right thing to do as I want her to have my name aswel and didn't like the idea of me travelling home to my family quite often and her surname being questioned.

My question is once she starts school etc can I just use his surname or do I need to register her with what is on her birth certificate?!

Also if me and partner are ever to marry and I change my name can I change hers aswell?

It's not something I'm actively looking to do just curious if anyone has been in similar situation and what they have done?

Thanks

She can be known by whatever surname is preferred.

Personally, even if you're sure about it, I would keep things as is officially, and just use his surname for school etc. Seems a lot of faff to change it legally when you don't need to.

Keep them both, there is no problem keeping both. I'm a two surnames person with a double barrel surname daughter and everyone is happy calling her by her full name and surname.
