Detest dating in 2023

Don't know about everyone else who has or is dating, but I'm well and truly done with it for good.

I don't like the process of dating online or in person really. It feels superficial, fake and unnatural.

Anyone else feel like this and did they ever meet their special person eventually just by living life?

I can't keep doing OLD hoping next time is different because it is always the same old shit.

I've completely, completely given up. I'll never be with anyone again. It's just not worth the risk and emotion.

@KeithChegwinFromExtrasPopKnob Oh I'm very sorry to hear that 😔 Hope you have a good support network.

I don't know about you but I am very thin skinned and despite all the challenges I've had in life I find dealing with people bloody difficult!

Me too! Massive introvert and it's only intensifying the older I get. I struggle to connect with people at all never mind forced and awkward online dating... where nearly everyone is called Simon 🤣

@KeithChegwinFromExtrasPopKnob I'd say I'm an ambivert as it depends on the person. Definitely not an extrovert though. I don't need others but always appreciate genuine good company.

Online dating is truly grim. I did it on and off for 3 years, got very demoralised at times, took lots of breaks but did meet some nice men on dates (no chemistry but they were decent blokes). A year ago I met someone fantastic on Tinder, of all places, and we’ve been together since. I’m 52 and he’s 58.

Oh it’s soul destroying isn’t it?! I had so many boring dates that I had no interest in seeing again. Then one who was a lot of fun but because he was a lot of fun in a sea of boring men he could have his pick and dropped me. I did have one relationship out of online dating .. he was low level controlling but through him I met my now DH . So I’m glad I persisted but it’s not exactly an online dating success story. I don’t know what the alternative is though.. join clubs? Give up altogether and hope a man magically walks into your life?!
