Does anyone know how you find out if you were in foster care

Does anyone know how you would find out if you were ever in foster care ? . I have a memory of being very young with my brother at a ladies house ( I know her first name , what her husband did , remember her girls , can visualise the house and remember places we went) . I can't ask my family as they won't talk

Can you submit a request for information to your local authority?

I’m not sure that’s even a thing but worth a try!

If you were known to the local authority, which you would have been if you were in care, you can submit an information request for your file!

It would be the area you lived in with your mum and dad that would hold this information.

Look for how to do a Subject Access Request on the website of the local authority you were in then.

Hi, You can try to contact the local authority of where you lived as a child as they will be able to advise you. Also you can reach out to the Foster Union.
