3rd date at the cinema... Is he expecting a snogfest?...

... or is it just what teenagers do?!

We're both late 40s by the way. I've not been on a cinema date (outside of a relationship) for well over 20 years!

You will have fainted from the shock of the price of admission tickets and popcorn if you haven't been for so long. I would save the snogging for the cold street outside, and enjoy your film. Hope you have a lovely time.

CesareBorgia · 21/10/2023 20:41

Book VIP seats so you're not bunched up together. Unless you are wanting a snog fest!

AnneKipankitoo · 21/10/2023 20:42

What are you going to watch ?

Nodashians · 21/10/2023 20:43

I go to the cinema every week and haven’t seen any snogging by anyone of any age.

Quite true.

CesareBorgia · 21/10/2023 20:45

Last time I went it was really chilly so my husband and I ended up huddled together with my coat draped over us, which might have looked dodgy, but there were only about two other people in the auditorium anyway.

PutYourHandsOnYourHips · 21/10/2023 20:46

Lol, the staff can see you on cameras.

CesareBorgia · 21/10/2023 20:49

I did mention on the way out that they needed to turn the heating up!

I've been plenty of times, just not on a date 😃

I've never paid other people any attention so wouldn't know unless right in front of me...
So what I'm taking from this is that the expectation is that we'll actually watch the film, and I'm projecting teen memories into this 😂

I haven't seen people snogging at the cinema in years.

OhComeOnFFS · 21/10/2023 21:44

People used to snog in the cinema when they didn't have anywhere private to go to. It's completely different now, OP!

mynameiscalypso · 21/10/2023 21:47

I went on a third date with my now-DH to the cinema. It was a film I really wanted to see and I'd have been very annoyed if he tried to snog me through it! A little gentle hand-holding is okay though.

SleepingStandingUp · 21/10/2023 21:47

Well the couple in front of us in the THEATRE to see a Matthew Bourne ballet last night kissed all the way through it 🙄. He was def50s and her 40s at least. Row B and centre stage. Totes inappropes.

But no, I think you're fine to stare at the screen all movie. What are you seeing?

NeverDropYourMooncup · 21/10/2023 21:49

Kissing's free.

Cinema tickets most certainly aren't - I'd be furious if somebody thought they could interfere with the Rules of Cinema where I'm concerned.

Fortunately, DP understood The Rules without having to be told them, so we were fine.

Lostsoul2023 · 21/10/2023 21:49

😂😂😂

Nodashians · 21/10/2023 22:01

Save the snogging for your Netflix and chill date.

DontLeanOnTheKeyboard · 21/10/2023 22:18

Went recently with DH, was cuddles up very close, had my arms around him and my cardi draped over him.

No, reader, no cheeky hand or head. He had rigours from what turned out to be Campylobacter. Not much romance but plenty of love after 22 years 🥰🥰🥰

EmeraldTheSeahorse · 21/10/2023 23:38

I’ve been to the cinema on dates and it never occurred to me that that’s what they was expecting. Never seen anyone kissing in the cinema!

On that note, be aware that some vip seats are sofas for 2!

Inkypot · 22/10/2023 00:49

Feeling a bit ashamed to read all these people say they've never seen anyone kiss in the cinema... I've done far, far more in a cinema than innocent kisses though it was a good 20+ years ago Blush I always associated cinema dates with a bit of handsy action in my mind but clearly that was just me!

Inkypot · 22/10/2023 00:50

Feel I better add that obviously I don't think OP should go leaping in with a handjob on her date though! Enjoy watching the movie 🍿

CallieQ · 22/10/2023 00:59

Only if you sit in the back row

EBearhug · 22/10/2023 01:03

The cinema nearest me is now all luxury seats. You, need 6ft long arms and to be climbing over the arm rests to be in any hope of a snog.
