Tinnitus after Covid!

I am a week in with Covid. After feeling like I might actually not survive (over dramatic but this time round I really felt very ill) I'm feeling a bit better today.

I can breathe again.. I can get out of bed. But I spent today staggering round the house to find what appliance was buzzing constantly. Only to realise when I went into the garden, that nothing was buzzing... the weird noise is inside my ears!
Furthermore I'm a bit deaf.

Is this common? I didn't have this the last two times I caught Covid!!! It's very disconcerting!

I have the exact same thing. Also went round listening to radiators even though I knew the heating wasn’t on. I only have it on my right side.

covid really wiped me out this time round.
the reading I’ve done tells me it can be fairly common after a heavy cold/ flu but to visit the GP if it hasn’t settled after a couple of weeks.

It’s so disconcerting though.

I went to the GP recently about tinnitus and she told me to listen to whale music.....I've since started B12 and D3 supplements and it's almost gone.

I got this after the COVID vaccine and then again after the booster. It did disappear both times after a few weeks but it was horrible while it lasted. If you tap firmly on the back of your head base of your skull 2 or 3 times it might temporarily relieve it.

How strange... I've also got this buzzing in my right ear for abour a year now. I too spent weeks checking radiators and even got a plumber in to check the boiler before dh suggested tinnitus. I only really hear it at night, like now and then it stops me sleeping. Most annoying but I hadn't considered it was from covid.

Hi @Sonolanona! Just wondering how you got on with this? Hope you are feeling much better now. 🤗I’m in the same position as you were, just recovering from COVID and have new ringing in ears (mainly noticeable at night). Looking for some reassure as it’s driving me mad! Thanks!

You need to report this to your GP. I had tinnitus after the first covid jab. it was so bad I couldnt go to sleep without the tv on to distract from the noise. It has got a little better but not that much and if I am tired or not well it is so much worse. Its a recognised side effect of covid for some reason and some days the ringing drives me to distraction.

Hi, my tinnitus has more or less gone now (just the odd annoying buzz)... but it did take a few months!

Hi can I ask you all how long it takes to go? I have just recovered from Covid, the rebound symptoms were much worse and my left ear started swelling and I couldn’t unblock it. I’m on antibiotics but it’s still feels blocked and no matter how much I hold my nose and blow it doesn’t sort it out. But the tinnitus is the worst, I’m struggling to get to sleep and it’s there immediately when I wake up. I need to know it gets better.
