Grumpy fiancé. Feel like I’m walking on eggshells

Supposed to be getting married next year. Seriously thinking of calling the whole thing off. I just feel like me and me DC annoy him all the time and he’s so snappy with us. I’ve asked him if he’s happy and he says he is, but the slightest thing and he goes really moody. It is like walking on eggshells. And he always disagrees with everything I say.

Hmm I’m going through a very similar situation, has he got a group of friends he talks to?

Riverlee · 28/09/2023 21:54

Doesn’t sound like good grounds for marriage. You want to be looking forward to be getting wed, bit dreading it.

Hanitiser · 28/09/2023 21:54

It's no life, for you or your DC. The person you marry should enhance your life, not having you feeling the way you feel.

Take control of your happiness.

Justmuddlingalong · 28/09/2023 21:55

Having to walk on eggshells around someone is never good. I'm glad you're rethinking your future, for your and your DC's sakes. 💐

oldestmumaintheworld · 28/09/2023 21:55

Get rid now. It will only get worse.

Chelsea543 · 28/09/2023 21:57

Such an awful way to live and I’ve lived it myself. Left that person years ago and me and my children were much happier. Now in a new relationship with a lovely man who never makes me feel that way. Please remove yourself and your children from this it’s an awful way to live and they will grow up having to walk on eggshells around him too then go into relationships with similar people.

makeminealargeoneagain · 28/09/2023 21:58

Listen to yourself OP. He doesn't seem to enhance your life. Chances are it will get worse. Put the whole thing on hold whilst you re-evalute your relationship. Sounds like you know in your heart of hearts that he's not the man for you.

Shoxfordian · 28/09/2023 22:02

Don’t marry that shit

TicTacNicNak · 28/09/2023 22:03

It's good that you're questioning things and thinking seriously about the future.

You shouldn't feel as though you're walking on eggshellS all the time, before you're even married. Your DC doesn't need that in their life either. Is he the father of your DC?

Seriously OP, don't tie yourself to this man. Call things off and tell him the reason why if you're able to. Life is too short to be tied in an unhappy relationship.

wildwestpioneer · 28/09/2023 22:13

He'll only get worse if you marry him.

Tangelablue · 28/09/2023 22:36

You asked him of he's happy. Does he ever make you feel happy? Does he ever ask you how you're feeling?

swanteapot · 29/09/2023 09:32

Put a stop to it ASAP - break off the engagement. Why waste any more life with someone like this?

PickAChew · 29/09/2023 17:18

This - or worse, as it often gets worse - is not what you want for your future.

AttilaTheMeerkat · 29/09/2023 17:26

Call it off now and in addition end the relationship. Marriage to him is not going to be good for you or your kids. And his moods that dictate the household are an example of emotional abuse.

EveryOtherNameTaken · 29/09/2023 17:32

Time to call it off. It will almost certainly get worse and you'll be annoyed with yourself for not putting the brakes on now if you don't.

BeggyMitchell · 29/09/2023 17:32

Life is too short OP.

My ex acted like this roughly 15 years into a marriage and that was the beginning of the end for me.

But to start off like this?? Trust your instincts and swerve your future misery.

Mistandmellowfruitfullness · 29/09/2023 17:37

You're not making each other happy so call it off

LifeExperience · 29/09/2023 17:40

What you marry is what you get. He will not change.

CoreopsisEverywhere · 29/09/2023 17:45

He will only get worse. Call it off while you can.

HowAmYa · 29/09/2023 23:08

It. Gets. Worse. Get out while you can
