Different date night ideas....

DH and I have a very rare upcoming child free Friday evening - kids will be staying over night with grandparents so we have until lunchtime the next day. Usually we'd try and get away somewhere for the night, but DH is in work until about 6/7pm, so not really enough time to get away.

I looked at spa twilight evenings, but they all seem to start at 5pm.

Don't really want the night to revolve around food/alcohol as we're both on somewhat of a health kick and want something a bit different than cinema etc.

It's not for a special occasion or anything like that, but DH has had a bit of a hard time of late and want it to be something a bit different and quality time together. DH doesn't know yet, as I want it to be a surprise.

No budget, but obviously don't want to be spending mega bucks either.

Any ideas?

Anything on at the theatre you could get last minute tickets for?

Local comedy night if you like that kind of thing.

At home spa. Get some pamper bits, face masks, nice candles etc. Give each other a massage.

I know you said not food related but how about cooking together. Something you wouldn't normally make with the kids about. Put on some music and have a laugh whilst cooking and then both get changed into something nice to eat, couple of candles on the table so it feels like a date.
