DH got me a gift I don’t want or need should I tell him?

dh got me an expensive gift which I don’t really need, I already have another device which takes up less space and can do the same job but with more time. I appreciate he thought to get me something I’d use but I can’t see myself using it much since I already have something similar.
Should I tell him or suck it up and pretend to love it?

I'd tell him and suggest changing it for something you'll use, perhaps a related device, eg headphones for a tablet or a garden trimmer to go wa lawnmower.

Seeing an unused gift lying around might over time create resentment

My ex bought me items i didn't like, i was polite but said do you mind if i exchange, i appreciate the sentiment its not something id wear etc. Honesty.

I'd come clean. "I love you & the thought but actually"... make it a joint experience to choose a replacement that works better for you.

Tell him you love the thought but to sell it and spend the money on wine and roses 🌹

Tell him what you would prefer. Men aren't mindreaders and need all the help we can give them! ;)
