Hi, I have 3 children husband earns 4,000 a month. We want shared custody the children. How much child maintenance should I ask for and how much am I likely to get ?

It depends on how you would share the custody. are you thinking 50/50?

There's a calculator you can use on the CMS website.

If it's 50/50, you'll get nothing.

If 50/50 you wont get any CMS

Them CMS calculator does strangely allow an option for "half the time" which to me means 50/50 in which case there is no CM payments.

This is the wording on the first landing page.

You will not have anything to pay through the Child Maintenance Service if you are:

• sharing care equally with the other parent
• a full-time student with no income
• in prison

Surely if someone is choosing "Half the time (175-182 nights per year) then they shouldn't be paying anything at all.
