Guy with a John Dillinger obsession

I'm Facebook friends with a guy through a work project initially. He's been posting pictures of himself following the trail of this gangster in great detail. He was a terrible person, what does this say about his 'fans'? These weirdos see him as Robin Hood. It doesn't seem normal for me.

The bigger picture of what it says about his fans is that they have the same mentality as whoever this bloke is and what he's representing and might even want to try and emulate that.

If it's not your thing, unfriend or unfollow him on facebook.

He was played by Johnny Depp in a film years ago. I looked him up and it's nuts to be into this.

It doesn't mean that at all. Some people are fascinated by the lives of those who operate outside of the norm, that's all. Curious about what makes their minds tick, how they can behave in such ways.

It doesn't mean that people are going to do it themselves!

He’s been depicted and memorialised in countless famous movies, songs, poems and even a novel or two: a lot of people are interested in his escapades. It’s usually more to do with the “legend” that’s grown up around an anti-hero personality - like Bonnie and Clyde, and Al Capone than celebrating crime and violence. I think travelling the trail of his life across the US actually sounds like a pretty great holiday!

I still think It's a bit odd though

Unfriend him then.

Tbh, it seems less vacuous to me than those people who follow influencers/celebrities or care what Stacey Soloman's garden looks like or whatever.

I know nothing about him really. At least if someone wanted to tell me about him, I might be vaguely interested.

But if you're worried you need to be wary of him simply because of this. You don't.
