Concurrent dating

Interested in views on this. Recently started dating after a long marriage.

Is it acceptable, or not? For example, if you have a few first dates lined up and then decide on a second date with one of them. Pause on the others? Or is it ok, for example, to go on first date on Tuesday and a second date (with a diff person) on Thursday.

I feel a bit funny about this. The sort of compare and contrast approach. I feel that a first date is worthy of a second, then neither party should be starting first dates with someone else until the first route has an outcome ie deciding not to see one another again, or the opposite.

yes that’s a bit of an outdated mentality now but it depends because the people you might be dating could be of the same generation and therefore more likely to share that mindset

I’m late twenties and the general consensus for those I have spoken to is it’s okay to go on dates with multiple people, as long as you’re open about that, but once youve had a third date (with the same person), you stop seeing anyone else because if you like someone after 3 dates you should focus your attention on them because it’s worth perusing.

To each their own though

If it was through OLD then yes, I'd multi-date because that seems to be the expected norm/etiquette on there and you can't get a true sense of potential attraction from a bio and pics alone. If it was IRL then no, I wouldn't because I'd have already done the vetting by chatting in person before agreeing to a date.
