A 'father' that doesn't pay

Can someone please give me advice if in the know. I've applied through CMS to get financial support from my little boys dad. Unfortunately my sons dad has refused to give CMS hos address and they have told me if they don't get his address and he refuses to sign their letter, that after 6 months they close the file on him and I get nothing? I struggle to believe this is true. My son is 3 and I'm his full time career, I work in the evenings at home when he sleeps to try make extra money to give him he best life I can, but it is not enough. His dad earns 50k plus a year, drives a brand new audi which is fine, good luck to him, but i can't help but feel a bit bitter when I'm struggling to feed our son. Winter months are upon us and I fear with heating bills etc, I'm gonna end up choosing between eating or warmth. I've not heard of this site before. But when I spoke to my kids dad about csm, he said 'I'm surprised you ain't been on the lesbian site mums net yet, asking other tramps like yourself for help' gives you an idea of the sort of person I'm dealing with. Any advice would be appreciated. Thank you!

I thought CMS were able to access details from DWP, DVLA etc?

EVliving · 15/08/2023 20:16

Why cant you give them his address?

HaroldMeaker · 15/08/2023 20:29

He’s an absolute prince, isn’t he?

Why cant you give them his address?

They're not interested in ANY info the resident parent gives them about the non-resident parent as it could be false. Blanket rule even though when in the context of his address, it makes no sense that the resident parent would lie about it 🤷🏼‍♀️ But themz the rulez 🤜🏻

I gave cms my exes address and phone number they certainly was interested

jocktamsonsbairn · 15/08/2023 21:32

I phoned the tax office and reported him as he had claimed he wasn't earning to avoid CMS who didn't che k. Inland revenue were very interested and got it sorted within 20 days, including owed back payments.

I know for a fact hid car and driving licence are registered where he doesn't live (here) and up until last week, he had my address down at his work.

Could you make a complaint to the CMS about them not making any effort to find his address?

BananaSlug · 15/08/2023 23:23

previous address?

mamagiorgio · 16/08/2023 02:37

I’m struggling to believe that they’d close a case simply because they do not have an address for him. There are women who have one night stands and never see the father of their children more than once who, rightfully so, claim and receive financial support. Have you supplied any additional information? His employment details?

BananaSlug · 16/08/2023 11:26

Tbf to the op I’m on a lot of single parent groups and a lot of people have said exactly the same thing that cms have said they can’t find the ex and will close the claim in 6 m so op isn’t making it up

marmaladeandpeanutbutter · 16/08/2023 14:22

Where does he work? Where did he get his car? What is his car registration number? It's piss easy to find an address if they can be bothered.

Obmoc · 09/01/2024 20:50

You can report to DVLA for this bit.

lenalemonade · 09/01/2024 21:30

Where does he work ?if you know that ,let the CMS know -what a scumbag he is !
He won't be laughing when he finds out the women on mumsnet are like hundreds of big sisters ,looking out for you Smile
Good luck darling x
