Only two short-term relationships

Hello,

As you can see from my username, I am a guy. I am in my fifties.

Until my early thirties, I was very shy when it came to women and intimacy, although I have always had a great social life and many of my friends have, and still are women.

I have only ever had two sexual relationships, lasting about a year. One the lady ended, the other I ended due to her getting too clingy and her parents getting involved and hassling me when I had to work shifts and odd hours......That just added to the pressure!

I do get asked out by women occasionally, but they turn out to be very flakey after 5 or 6 dates, even dates they initiate.

I had one date who it turned out had been married several times and in the 40 minutes it took me to drive home afterwards, she left me about 12 texts and 6 calls on my phone saying how lovely I am. Scared me off!

I have had dates arrive with friends on the second or third dates.

One turned up with her young daughter, which she never mentioned to me before the date and then texted me to say all her daughter ever mentioned once home is how great I am and how she misses me. Yeah, right!

Maybe I am old fashioned, but I like to get to know someone as a friend first and see what happens.

Also, given my age, would my lack of sexual experience put most women off?
