we had our sons girlfriends and parents over for lunch today. Stepfather is quite funny, says it how it is.
Anyway, after quite a bit to drink he pipes up his wife said my husband was nicer than me, and on the way over she said they were going to have a shit day !!!!! she gave him a look and we laughed it off. I was really a bit pissed off tbh spent a fortune on food and drinks but obviously didn’t say anything! However why say something like that ? Maybe I’m old fashioned but I was taught manners growing up that stayed with me into adulthood.

Says it how it is - that's what people say to try and defend the rudeness or others.

You don't have to take what is said to you, you can call the person out if your not happy

Just wondering if it was true or not seems a bit weird to say something like that

Don’t give it another thought.

Have them over again and say it as it is!

It may well be that what he said was what they think and he is crass enough to actually say it because he thought he was being funny
You are not wrong - some people have no manners

Sorry that the pair of them let you think anything negative- personally I wouldn’t have them back
