Nervous about first date, what to wear

Tomorrow I have the first date with a man I met recently through work.
We're both off tomorrow so we're meeting for lunch then going to National Trust place afterwards.
I was thinking of wearing smart boots, black trousers and casual blouse. Not much make up (don't really wear much during the daytime) and hair tied up. I don't want to look overdressed or like I've tried too hard.
What would other MNetters wear for a lunchtime first date?
It's years since I've been on a date lol, so nervous!

Depends where you're going for lunch but I'd probably not wear smart boots and smart trousers if you're going for a walk at the NT place. I'd probably wear decent jeans, walking boots (or take the boots in the car so you can change) and a thick ish coat

If it were me, I would probably go for the classic jeans and a nice top. He already thinks you’re attractive and likes you as you’ve already met irl so just be yourself.

Hope it goes well for you!

I always think black trousers and a blouse is a bit officey. For a daytime date l would go for jeans or leggings with ankle boots that are not too smart or heeled. Hope you have fun and remember if he likes you and is a nice person he won't be judging you on what you wear.

Day time at a NT place , like PPs have suggested, a nice pair of jeans or walking trousers and a top / nice jumper, thick coat.
Black trousers seem a tad too formal.

I agree… dump the trousers. Nice jeans and top/ blouse

HollyJenni · 20/02/2023 20:30

How exciting ! I would go for a nice coat, jeans or jeggings with suitable boots. Maybe a nice jumper or something. Go for minimal make up with a bit of a glow so it looks nice in the sun, good perfume and enjoy! Let us all know how it goes

Whatever you wear, make it comfortable & not itchy

Wear a smile

Go comfy … he knows and likes you after meeting at work, he likes you for you. You’ll have a better time if you’re comfy in what you’re wearing… you’ll enjoy yourself more if your boots are comfy and your trousers don’t feel tight etc.

I met DP at work (14 years ago)… at work I look presentable but tend to not bother with make up etc. Sometimes we’ll go out for a nice meal and I’ll dress up etc.. he’ll go ‘you look weird in makeup. Not bad, but weird’ then we’ll get home and I’ll put my pjs on and he’ll go ‘ahhh there you are!’ And at that point I get the cuddles etc.

Hope you have a fab time! It reads like he’s got you giddy!
