Mine was my partner came in from a night shift, made me a cup of tea, I asked about his night, it wasn't great. I made him a cup of tea and a hot water bottle cos our house is freezing at this time of morning. We got in bed and cuddled and he fell asleep. It was perfect.

Before that, he made a special trip to Tesco to buy me some Sudocrem for my poor sore bottom. That's true love

Yes it is!

Deathraystare · 15/02/2023 15:09

@DramaAlpaca
@JeanMarie

These are heart warming!

Want2beme · 15/02/2023 15:16

JeanMarie Congrats to you both🌹

Do you love your ring? It's gorgeousSmile

CuriousMama · 15/02/2023 15:53

@JeanMarie congratulations that's wonderful. I hope you do get married ❤️

Dh and I got an Indian takeaway and sat watching the extraordinary attorney woo. We're hooked. We've just had a couple of nights away to a spa hotel (bargain Groupon) and having another next week. Not for valentine's just for love ❤️😘

Got dumped after 4yrs via WhatsApp 😅

Ah this thread is lovely.

DP and I didn’t see each other yesterday (I was babysitting for my lovely neighbours so that they could go out!) so we did our Valentine’s on Friday night. He took me to a candlelight concert and we had a lovely meal out and then out of the blue (although, knowing him as I do, there will have been a LOT of thinking about it on his side as he’s a very measured man and a deep thinker) he told me that he loves me (a sentiment I 100% returned). Then we came back to mine, cuddled on the sofa and listened to music and talked about the future. It was perfect.

Such a contrast to my last few Valentine’s Days. My late DH died in 2020 and I never thought I would feel this way again, let alone for such a kind, thoughtful, wonderful man (whose smile makes me melt).

Oh nooooo, that is hideous! I’m so sorry!

SwordToFlamethrower · 15/02/2023 16:07

I've not felt like valentines the last couple of years. This year I treated him to scrambled egg and salmon on toast with strawberries and a cup of filter coffee. Rose in a cup. Did my hair and makeup and wore a skirt (cba usually!)
Presented him with a dozen red roses and a card with a badge that says "best husband" which he immediately put on his t-shirt:)

For evening meal I made a Jamie Oliver meatballs and spaghetti and home made cookies with ice-cream. Had love songs playing while we ate.

Bare in mind we have a 3 month old so she joined us too.

Then we slow danced while holding the baby. Baby fell asleep in my arms so I put her down and I jumped his bones.

Best day ever!!!

He got me 2 valentines cards (one with a badge!) and a Harry Potter quidditch mug that says "I'm a keeper"

Brazilagogo · 15/02/2023 16:07

I am so happy to read this for you @peachgreen 😍

trevthecat · 15/02/2023 16:15

Oh these are so lovely. We spent the day with extended family due to a birthday but we exchanged cards and he bought me flowers. He then cooked an amazing tea whilst I battled bedtime with the kids! Then a bit of TV! Perfect for us!

peachgreen · 15/02/2023 16:17

Thank you @Brazilagogo – he is a treasure.

PatMu · 15/02/2023 16:39

I only see my BF EOW as long distance but yesterday he rang to say he was passing nearby from a work meeting and could we have coffee.
We met up and because it was last minute we had no reservation to go for a food so went to a fast food diner place and had a burger with all the loved up teenagers Smile
We then went for a drink in the bar where we had our first date 18 months ago and walked back and sat in his car for a smooch 🥰 he gave me flowers chocs and a card and we talked about how much we mean to each other.

After a marriage breakdown in 2019 and many many crappy valentines days with my ex this was just perfect

linelgreen · 15/02/2023 16:45

I planned a lovely dinner for two then had to stretch it to three as DS came home unexpectedly from uni as he was the only one of his friends to be alone on Valentines Day.

mydogisthebest · 15/02/2023 17:48

We exchanged cards and presents. I bought him Abba tickets which he was really over the moon about and he bought me a book and an animal experience at a local wildlife park which I am very happy about.

He took the day off work and we watched Maverick on tv. Then had a lovely Waitrose Valentine's meal deal.

DH is loving year round and brings me a cup of tea every morning in bed. He works, quite often long hours and I am retired but he will often come in and cook to give me a break even though I do like cooking.

Shout out to women that love men that love women.

Are you drunk?

GoodChat · 15/02/2023 17:54

There are some really lovely posts here!

Congratulations @JeanMarie 🥰

Pumpling · 15/02/2023 18:01

He came over as I'm stuck at home with 5wk old (we don't live together). I ordered a takeaway, he changed babies nappy and then went home. We'd completely forgot it was valentines day, I don't think we've celebrated it since our first vday which was Feb 2017. But having to deal with a very colicky baby on my own 99% of the time with dp only popping over a few times a week I wouldn't of been in the mood for much..

JeanMarie · 15/02/2023 18:43

Thank you for the lovely messages and congrats. Yes, I do love the ring. It's white gold, emerald and diamonds. He knew I loved emeralds and looking back I can remember subtle little things that helped him choose it. To the pp who hopes we will get married.....yes we will.😁 My first grandchild is due in early May so once the little chap makes his
appearance I will concentrate on wedding plans.

I had given up hope of a relationship , after, like a lot of women, having shitty relationships. I'm fact I was celibate (by choice) and didn't date at all in the ten years before I met this lovely man. Just goes to show....miracles can happen.😁❤

Simonjt · 15/02/2023 18:45

I got a bought coffee and some pokemon cards before my current husband went to work, I then spent most of the day cleaning up vomit and trying to stop the dog helping. Our romantic day peaked when he came home to reveal he’d been to the hairdressers and got himself a mullet…

shallibuyahouse · 15/02/2023 18:51

I sent my chap a card, and he phoned up and said 'Omg, I didn't think you would, and now I feel awful, so I'm cooking on Saturday - buying everything including the wine, and I'll rub your legs for an hour'

Best £3 I've ever spent 😁

DuckyShincracker · 15/02/2023 18:54

DP took the morning off work to take me out for breakfast. We exchanged cards & gifts. Then went shopping to get our romantic meal for 4 and DP then cooked steaks after for me & the DD's @ 10pm when I'd finished my shift. He cleared the table and lit candles it was lovely. He 's not the DD's Dad but is a good role model of kindness & flexibility.

Zanatdy · 16/02/2023 08:49

Congrats @JeanMarie , your ring is gorgeous. I too was single for 10yrs plus until recently. Been with my bf for 3 months now and it’s great. We are doing valentines this weekend as we couldn’t see each other in the week. I’ve bought him a naughty gift from love honey and a few other bits. I might have to drink a couple of glasses of fizz before I give him the naughtier gift! I’ll keep that in my overnight back. I suspect he’s also bought me something naughty too, but if he hasn’t I might hold back the naughty gift! Haha

SophieJo · 16/02/2023 17:15

What a lovely thread. Really enjoyed reading everyone’s stories. My husband and I have always exchanged cards and write heart felt messages in them. I’ve kept every one for over 40 years.
