Is this what dating is like now?!

My partner of 5 years ended things at the start at the year by ghosting me. Recently I decided to sign up to a couple of dating sites. I had been speaking every day to a man for around 2 weeks, we were talking about arranging a date when he suddenly ghosted me. I then matched with someone who I actually sort of know in real life. Again, chatted for around a week and a half when he then ghosted me too.

What on earth is this? Is this just standard these days?!

Unfortunately with OLD ghosting comes with the territory. Don’t take it personally. I found this a lot, you’d be talking one minute and blocked the next. It’s one reason why I gave up on it, along with the waste of time men!

This can happen when they’ve met or been contacted by someone they are more interested in, but don’t want to burn their boats right away.

if it’s only a day or two, it can also happen due to a bout of Covid (my correspondent) or sudden loss of internet (me). As pp says, it’s not intended to be personal in the way that blanking someone in real life would be.

For men their are two rules to dating:

1. Be a white guy
2. Do not be a non-white guy

Cowards do ghost - you dodged a bullet, imagine ending up with a coward.

Some people are unable to actually say they need to end a relationship so run away, block and go the cowards way. You deserve better than that.
