Partner on bail, no update from police

If anyone's been in this situation or know a bit about the subject, could you please help me?

My partner was supposed to be on bail until the end of last month, however, when he went back to the police station, the officer told him that the investigator in charge of his case was on leave and would call him on the weekend to let him know whether he was going to be on bail for longer, released under investigation, or if the charges have been dropped. That was almost two weeks ago but we haven't gotten any news. We have tried calling the police station who asked us to contact them through their website but haven't heard back.

What does it mean? Is my partner still on bail then? Does it mean it's likely the charges have been dropped then?

Thank you

Is there any way to track the status of an investigation for instance?

He will still be on bail till he is officially told by the force he isn't. Wait till they have been in contact

That’s a bit shit - if he was being re bailed then he should have been given a new date to return. If they’ve decided to take no further action (NFA) then he should be formally told and given the decision in writing with some blurb. Sounds like the officer went on leave without making any arrangements for his appointments. I’d email the officer / station and in the case and ask for clarification ( because he doesn’t want them rocking up down the line for failing to attend )

You've posted about this several times now, he's on conditional bail for assaulting you, you need to focus on getting your head straight!

Thank you. That's what I was thinking.
He emailed the station last week but hasn't gotten a call back yet.

He needs to speak to a custody sergeant on duty and request to know his current status, as he has a legal right to know. His solicitor/legal representation can also call. They can't just 'not' tell him.

TheVanguardSix · 13/06/2022 00:25

He’ll continue to be out on bail. Just needs a new date but his current bail conditions still stand.

QuizzlyBears · 13/06/2022 05:05

Your partner is on bail until he’s told that he isn’t. The police will amend/remove bail when he ‘answers’ it at his next appointment - the police will give him a new date but whatever conditions he’s got still stand right now. Just be patient, the police system can be slow but they won’t have forgotten.

trukluxu · 13/06/2022 13:49

Thank you all.

He will call and ask to speak to the custody sergeant

Why didn't he think to do this himself OP?

Surely if he wants to confirm his bail conditions badly enough, he has the wherewithal to ask the police what they are:..?

He called them once but they told him to wait for the call from the investigator. A week or so later he emailed them but got no response
