Hinge question

New to the dating scene (after a long, sexless marriage) but have a question about the dating site Hinge...

If someone likes a pic or something and I sent a reply saying thanks will they get it if I'm not a paying account holder? I've sent thanks messages that say sent but don't seem to get read. Just wondered if it's because I haven't paid.

I'm paying for Bumble and Match (getting nowhere). If anyone can recommend a site that still allows messages for free then let me know.

Thanks (a lonely, but attractive, 50 year old female). Sad

And here's me wondering if this was the joinery section..
😬

@Summerholidayorcovidagain

I honestly thought it was a diy question and I got excited..

OP, if you write to Match you may be able to get a refund, if it’s not too long after you signed up.

I prefer Bumble - Tinder has a sea of dodgy blokes but if you persevere there are some good ones.

EBearhug · 16/05/2022 08:51

There are dodgy blokes on all sites, just as IRL. I'm using Bumble, Tinder and OKCupid, not paying for any of them. You can chat if you match on all of them. Match was a really bad user interface, and I gave it up after about 3 days.

I've had a few relationships from Plenty of Fish. I can't say I've found more looking for hook ups on there than any other site tbh! Facebook dating worth a look too. Much less numbers than pof or Tinder though

YorkshireTea72 · 16/05/2022 19:15

Thanks everyone. I'll see what happens!

I found my now dh on Tinder- after only joining it to prove that there was no point because there are no decent men on there... seems I was wrong! 😂

YorkshireTea72 · 16/05/2022 19:22

Ahhh, that's lovely. Did you meet up straight away?

Yes! We matched on the Saturday evening and had our first date daytime on the Monday, having talked constantly in between and that was that!

YorkshireTea72 · 16/05/2022 19:34

Oh wow. That's amazing when that happens! The connection is just there from day 1. Lovely!

I was proposed to a year ago today by my tinder match married a week. He's amazing. Totally loved up. Don't despair.

It's so nice to hear positive stories like these.

Hinge, bumble, POF and tinder are all free.

Likes mean nothing, I think men just swipe right on everything then wait and only actually look if they get a response.

It really was, and we're both just so grateful to have found each other!

YorkshireTea72 · 16/05/2022 21:35

Ahhhh, that's great!
