Weird work colleagues

Here are two guys that I have the misfortune to work with..

One is a consultant who (when the nice man opposite isn?t in) uses his desk. I am working away and then I notice out the corner of my eye that he is sticking two fingers up at me (this is the second time he has done it) Me being bolshie said to him that he was strange little man, and he said that I wasn?t being very kind to say that! The cheek of it. As a direct contrast, when I meet him on the stairs, he is always nice, holds doors open and stuff- I am wondering if he had a kind of tourettes syndrome? Any ideas?

The other person (X) is a bit of a woman disliker I think and is always trying to get a sly comment in and I always pick up on it and I told X today he had an evil streak and I was surprised he had any friends to go out with. (the man opposite is really nice and always gets the drinks in and he suggested that X got the drinks in for a change which X declined to do again). I always stick up for myself but am wondering what the hell they are doing. I have never had any problems with work colleagues and was wondering if you lot had. I have no problems with anyone else in the office.

Other than keeping away from them both and telling the consultant boss about the behaviour of the consultant, any good advice? Should I just shut up and let them get on with it?

@ catus

JuniperDewdrop · 23/11/2004 14:18

meant cactus

SoupDragon · 23/11/2004 14:20

No idea why he ate it. It was disgusting!

Then there was the man who used to bounce up and down on his chair, grinning inanely. He also used to fall asleep in the coffee lounge after lunch. And examine the contents of his tissue after blowing his nose.

Ah... those were the days...

DaddyCool · 23/11/2004 14:23

Nice.

I used to work with a girl who, when sat at the desk directly in front of me, constantly scratch her head with a long nail and then examine the dead skin that clogged under her nail.......needless to say she didn't wash her hair all that often either. Wore the same set of clothes everyday all week and shuffled along the floor without actually taking her feet off it......

Sadly she has now been made redundant

I had a friend who was a housing office and one of his colleagues was an alcoholic that used to be found passed out in the toilets
On a lighter note, he visited one house to check it was still there and discovered the occupant had decorated the kitchen with cut out photos of Alan Titchmarsh all over her cupboards.

post the picture through a link and let us have a look!

DillyDally · 23/11/2004 15:05

That might reveal my true identity which is a closely guarded secret (or I can't work out this new fangled technology stuff)

Sorry, went to the kitchen and forgot about it:

Saguaro, the best friend of the annoyed worker 50ft high cactus at your service and available through ebay!!!

Chandra · 23/11/2004 15:10

Oh! Don't worry for your identity Dilly, if it's not you somebody else at your office should be thinking the same. POst it please!!! (As if I have not had enough with the dear graduate!)

Chandra · 23/11/2004 15:11

Soupd, that was not a man, that was a goat! they do it all the time...

Sozie · 23/11/2004 15:14

This is why I do not miss working . Daddycool like the idea of peeing on the chair as I poured a jug of water over ex boss chair the night before I went on holiday and stuffed blue tack in the telephone ear piece so he couldn't hear anyone. He was a dislikable type

SoupDragon · 23/11/2004 15:27

Could have been a goat, he did have a beard... Also, he hadn't bought a new shirt since the 70s - we used to have a "Fantasy Shirt League" where you picked 4 shirts and got a point everytime one of your "team" was worn. Extra points if it came with a hideous tie

DillyDally · 23/11/2004 15:28

If you guys tell me how to do it..I shall try my bestest to get a good close up of him.

I've just been called in to my new managers office for a meeting and he sat with his back to me for most of it! I had to peer round him as we talked!

I think we're going to clash

DaddyCool · 23/11/2004 15:57

fight, fight, fight, fight!!

DillyDally · 23/11/2004 16:11

Or a more peaceful solution would be to attend meetings with large mirror on an angled stick which you could hold in front of his face to check his expressions?

i had a colleage who was obsessive about dirt. if i had to use her computer she would sit there frozen in horror and clean it afterwards. same goes for her phone, she would disinfect the mouthpiece, she wouldnt let me sit on her chair and one day screamed blue murder at me when i accidentally put my can of coke on her desk (which was joined to mine) and no, im not stinky or unclean...well that was in the days before baby when i did silly things like brushing my hair...
