6 week old still won't sleep on back

Hi,

My daughter is now 6 weeks old and has not been sleeping on her back since she was born. She wants to be held when sleeping. Whilst awake she can be on her back but as soon as we rock her to sleep and try to place her in the bedside crib, she instantly wakes herself up. I have read this can be her reflexes, moro reflexes. Each time we try, she wakes up wide eyed and needs to be rocked back to sleep again and will stay asleep while being held. Nights are getting difficult for me and my husband as one of us needs to be up to hold her while she sleeps. On a few occasions she does stay asleep but then shortly after throws her arms up and starts stretching. She puts herself to sleep but then again wakes up by startling herself.

I've tried swaddling and wasn't successful as she would just break out of the swaddle or just cry trying to break free.

Has anyone else had this with their newborn, if so when did it stop or when can I expect it to stop?

I took my second dd to a cranial osteopath and she slept in her Moses basket for 5 hours straight that night. Good luck

Have things gotten better?
Many thanks
