I've never dated before and I do struggle with self esteem but I hate this. Is it just something to put up with or a reasonable ick?

Yeah I'm not a fan. I would of fallen for not when I was younger but now now

Not now that should say

It's brilliant. An easy ignore.

I assume it's a man who doesn't see women as individuals.

I was walking down an alley with my 3 year old. A man followed me down the alley. Ge got ahead of me and proceeded to ask for my number. What is wrong with these dickheads? Surely they know approaching a woman in an alley is intimidating.

corlan · 01/04/2022 20:20

I delete anyone that says that straight away!

Sunnytwobridges · 01/04/2022 20:44

I block anyone that says that, it seems so disingenuous.

BabyNo11989 · 01/04/2022 20:47

Nope, straight in the bin with those ones 🗑

DatingAWidower22 · 01/04/2022 20:48

Or babe. I used to absolutely hate babe

Crimeismymiddlename · 01/04/2022 20:51

I thought I was the only one who hated this. Exchanged a few messages with a man yesterday and he spontaneously said ‘Crime, you are very beautiful’ it felt like he was following a script, I am not even slightly beautiful, just normal. I found it very patronising.

oftheton · 01/04/2022 20:54

Oh great. It's so patronising and fake.

It’s so they don’t call any of their potential conquests the wrong name.

Sushiii · 01/04/2022 21:10

Agreed, I hate this too and don’t ever reply. Even worse is when they follow up with “Don’t be shy”. It takes all my willpower to not let rip at them!

Also the ones who open all ‘mysteriously’ with “Can I ask you a question?” Hmm Nope. No you can’t.

SucculentChalice · 01/04/2022 21:40

When I did it, for some reason they used to talk to me like I was a child, rather than a mid forties woman.

"Hi, how's u?" (The usual opener in my area)

Me: "Hi, I'm good thanks. Hope you're well too"

"Aw, thats good. So what has a lovely girl like you been up to today?"

(after I got a version of this a few times, I used to become mildly sardonic and reply with something like

"Oh, busy day at work, with a no less than three (3!) dissections carried out plus a partial. Once I got home, I then went out and ran 22 miles in preparation for my next Ironman".

Them; "Aw, thats good. So you like to keep busy then?"

I once got "You do have a busy little life don't you!"
