Struggling with putting DD in crib & first cold 6mo

Hi, first post on here but reaching out for some advice and help. My DD is 6 months old and has her first cold. Recently her sleep had worsened (wakes more often and wakes as soon as put in crib) but eventually after BF and cuddle a few times she will go down. Although since having a cold for a couple of days I can’t put her down in her crib as she just screams as soon as I put her down, she calms down and falls instantly to sleep as soon as I pick her out of her crib that’s right next to my bed and lay her on my chest for a cuddle. We’re using the “snot sucker”, saline spray & calpol vapour plug in but she’s still struggling to breathe through her nose and I think that’s why she wakes and screams because she’s scared. Is it safe for her to sleep on my chest if I’m sat up in bed and nod off to sleep too next to DH with quilts and pillows on bed? She can roll over, push herself up on arms and lift her head- should I be worried of her suffocating or overheating?

Lying down flat will feel horrible for her. Prop the end of her cot up slightly on some books or something so it’s on a tilt.

It’s hard when they’re poorly but they just want the comfort of being held sometimes.

No it's not safe to have her fall asleep on you sorry. Raise up the legs on one side of the crib or look at safe cosleeping, but I think having her head lifted will work better

Hi, my daughter is 2 now, when she was 4 months she had a cold like what you are describing and I was unable to put her in her crib because she would just wake up screaming and the only way to settle her was to sleep on me! What I did was use a light weight blanket for me and her. And I did so until she was better, then tried her back in the crib! Do whatever works for you and make sure you are getting enough sleep as well.
Hope you get it sorted soon! 🙂
