mothers who don't interfere, do appreciate their grandchildren, and do get on and have a life outside the family.

Any one else ready to praise their mother?

I loved my best mates cheery response to my pregnacy, Great she said, the worst Mums make the best Grandmothers.
I love my Mum to bits, but agree that she is the best Grandmother ....

My Mum is great - I recently thanked her for not interfering or imposing her parenting views on me when dd was born - she just let me get on with it and came and cleaned my house and did my ironing and was always there with a cup of tea and a cuddle (for me and my dd )
Hooray for mums!

Even my Mum was not a natural did her best. Brother is still bitter, but I have grown really close to her and appreciate her strengths and can't blame her for being a distant mother. It is great seeing her watch me be a Mum and it is funny knowing that she enjoys me playing the kind of silly games that she never knew how to play with me.
So yes, Hooray for Mums - warts and all!
