Rude "famous people"

We have a famous designer at my kid's school, born to a very wealthy family. Her kids are nice
She can be very unfriendly but inconsistently so - will often blank people one day and be friendly the next. Acts quite haughtily with the teachers. At times very abrupt.
She doesn't have to be friends with us civilians - that I fully understand. But what's with the rude behaviour? What's going on there? The school mums are a pretty innocuous bunch and I'd like to think we are friendly and welcoming.

Horrible and rude - Katie Price. Perhaps she was having an off day. No attempt to be anything like her on-screen persona. Just moody, short tempered and no time for anyone. Couldn't be bothered to be there.

I actually quite like her on screen self on Loose Women etc.

@notHarris

Has anyone met Anton Du Beke or any other Strictly dancers? Would love to know what they're like. I absolutely love Anton and will be gutted if he's horrible.
My silver-haired mum cherishes her photo with Anton. Says he was dreamy.
peardropsonarainyday · 10/10/2021 23:25

I met idris elba two years ago he was a hell of a lot smaller in real life than he is on films . Tall but skinny . He seemed really nice . Best bit was I stood next to him at a cocktail place at the bar and didn't have a clue who he is 😂 because it was basically somone just standing next to me waiting for their drink . Then outside everyone was having photos with him and I heard somone say idris elba and I looked and thought what the hell 😂 he was literally standing a metre away from me outside ! He was with his partner . They both seemed really nice and he had all the time in the world for people who wanted to meet him

CharityDingle · 10/10/2021 23:27

I have heard from a camera man on Strictly that Anton's willy is absolutely HUGE and sometimes he has to tie it to his leg. True, I promise!

Holly W…she actually scared me, head bitch kind of woman . So disappointed and sad as I imagined she’d be so lovely, so different to on the tv, no idea how she fakes that.

Davina McCall-bloody lovely! V down to earth, kind and good fun

Peter Jones (Dragon’s den) & wife-V lovely

Melanie Sykes-unfriendly and rude, another disappointment as I assumed she’d be lovely

WeBuiltThisBuffetOnSausageRoll · 10/10/2021 23:37

Poor Anton - imagine how heartbroken and devastated he's going to be if he ever discovers that people have been circulating this rumour about him Grin

Cedilla · 10/10/2021 23:42

Bill Nighy is a bit of a legend on threads like these as he's so unfailingly nice (if slightly eccentric). There was a huge Twitter thread a year or so ago about encounters with slebs and a kind of mini-Nighy thread sprang up within it. It started to feel as though just about everyone had met him somewhere or other.

(I've met him myself and yes, he was charming, funny and quirky)

somethinginoffensive · 10/10/2021 23:50

A friend of mine met Victoria Wood years ago, had a cup of tea with her and said she was lovely and chatty.

Tistheseason17 · 10/10/2021 23:50

Ooh, yes,I remember seeing Shane Richie - awful behaviour. Totally rude to bar staff. And he was oddly wearing a full length leather coat and it was height of summer!

Muzzyarker7 · 10/10/2021 23:53

Eamon Holmes, rude. Lorraine Kelly, rude. Paul O Grady, lovely. Linford Christie, lovely. George Micheal, extremely lovely.

Craftgirlx · 11/10/2021 00:02

A close family member was in the police and worked with the royals a lot when they visited Scotland. He said that Prince Charles was lovely, funny and down to earth. He even recognised him the second time they met! He also said that Princess Diana was the most beautiful lady he’d ever seen but was incredibly stupid. Pleasant but didn’t seem very intelligent at all. Prince Andrew seemed odd - shock! But overall high praise for them.

I have met John Bishop who was absolutely lovely. Posed for a photo with me and took a shot together! Super kind man.

BaronessKareness · 11/10/2021 00:06

Kris Akabusi - just lovely! Noisy, funny, chatty.
Adrian Chiles - abrupt, rude, unpleasant
John Craven - enjoyed talking about his tv career, talked to all our staff, such a lovely man, signed autographs for us all. His daughter…. Horrible.. came across as jealous of him, talked across him all the time. She could learn so much from him☹️
The man who played Beppe de Marcos… he was doing a promo at a hotel we were staying at, and was plagued by pushy women, he looked so fed-up. My Dh bought him a drink and they stood chatting for a good while, he didn’t want my Dh to leave him in case the women came back!!😁 My Dh said that “Beppe” just wanted to go home!

JustThisLastLittleBit · 11/10/2021 00:07

My DB is royal protection and by far and away his fave was Philip. Loathed Andrew on sight, stupid and arrogant. Edward v down to earth and friendly.

HalfCakeHalfBiscuit · 11/10/2021 00:08

I have met a few celebs....

Katie Price: Lovely and down to earth
Cliff Richard: handsy
Terry Wogan: dipsomaniac
Prince William: obsessed with his (non existent) hair
Mother Theresa: potty mouthed
Pope John Paul II: Womaniser

JustThisLastLittleBit · 11/10/2021 00:13

😂

BaronessKareness · 11/10/2021 00:15

Ooh, forgot to say, A special mention for Tony Hadley… when Spandau split he was touring on his own doing small casual venues, this was 2003. He was on in a Town Hall in a tiny town near us, so we went to see him. It was one of the hottest nights of the year.
It was a superb gig, he was drenched in sweat, but kept going. He was brilliant fun and later on, we saw him having an impromptu singalong with some older ladies in the car park by his tour bus!! Totally love him for how he was that night, so lovely.

darklindor · 11/10/2021 00:18

Sorry to upset the Danny La Rue fans, but I have to say we laughed about the interview for days, he was obviously in a very, very bad mood. Grin

Jonnywishbone · 11/10/2021 00:21

Liz Truss, very prejudiced against certain races was shocked to be honest, done in a subtle and clever way but pretty appalling.

She also has quite an arrogant approach to dealing with people and always has to be right.

AnnieSnap · 11/10/2021 00:31

@foxgoosefinch

Oh I forgot I had to take Michael Gove to dinner as part of a work obligation once (I am not a Tory voter by a long way!) This was a long time before Brexit and all of that shambles, possibly even before the 2010 election, I can’t remember exactly. He was charming and took care to seem like he was listening intently to everything you said, but everything he said was very superficial and seemed ever so slightly detached from reality. Funnily enough 😂
Well, he is often on something 😉
Crispynoodle · 11/10/2021 00:45

Greg James is a lovely down to earth young man, he bought DH and I lunch!

AnnieSnap · 11/10/2021 00:53

@NeedAHoliday2021

A well known mp’s partner was brought in by ambulance in labour. She and the mp totally kicked off demanding private maternity care, lots of threats. She was well into established labour and we don’t have a private maternity wing… it’s an nhs hospital and there was no time to transfer her. I realise it’s am emotional time but the behaviour was outrageous from a senior politician.
Is this MP a cabinet member? Give us some hints!
AnnieSnap · 11/10/2021 00:56

@DoncasterHombre

I used to be a Runner in film/tv so you'd bump into lots of high and low level 'slebs' but learn not to take much notice either way.

Tom Hollander - "don't you know who I am"? to a Receptionist when she asked him his name.

Mike Leigh - ungrateful, rude, sarcastic and just a bit of a knob.

And - for a bit of balance - a couple who were genuinely decent, down-to-earth people; Donal MacIntyre, Chico Slimani and Danny Dyer!

So good to know as I love Donal MacIntyre so much that he could lead me astray 😳

He really does have an excellent reputation. Which is why it is so baffling that he is dating Anna Wintour, who... does not.

@diddl

Anyone else reading this with the initials & hints & wondering who the fuck is anyone talking about?

Just say it!!!

As for people wondering if Op is talking about Stella McC, my initial thought was it can't be because no way can she have kids still of school age!

@saraclara

I have autism and don't agree. You learn how to act and what to say. It's false, but it's an effort to be polite. Please don't cut me any slack.

Some autistic people can. Others can't. Given that everyone is constantly told that no two autistic people are the same, it's odd that you are claiming that we should see every autistic person as belong capable of the same masking behaviour that you are.

And Chris Packham has said that he finds human interaction difficult and anxiety provoking.
