Sex and breastfeeding

Fortunately this isn't TOO much of an issue as DH and I have a fairly limited sex life to say the least!
I'm a breastfeeder, although supply is low as I'm only giving DS 1 or 2 feeds a day. The thing is, while I am still breastfeeding I am really struggling to see my boobs as sexual objects. I just can't imagine them as having any function other than for feeding. So, when DH broaches the area during one of our rare 'sessions', I really seize up. If he goes in for the suckage (which he almost always does), I have to bite my hand to stop myself laughing. I'm part worried that some milk will come out, and part plain embarrassed. How do other breastfeeders reconcile the two different demands on their boobs? Should they just be left alone until you've stopped BF or can they be both sexual and functional at the same time?

As I have been non-stop bf'ing for over three years now I think it would have been unreasonable to declare my boobs off-limits for the duration. My dh has put up 'manfully' with sharing his boobs with the dc's . I find it a bit embarassing when I squirt or drip on him. He isn't turned on by that in any way, but he does like the increased boob size.

but last weekend we had too put all our misgivings aside as while we were away together minus dc's for the first time and for 2 nights... dh had too step in and help relieve me of excess milk, embarrassing, and completely non-sexy but as I have had mastitis 4 times I did not want to go there again.

But breastfeeding has not put my breasts out of comission sexually at all.

Yep, 3MB, I've had a couple of raised eyebrow moments myself and I'm broadminded. Heaven knows what the "ooh not in public dear" lot would make of some of the tales...! Especially feeding piglets. And men with beards!

Feeding piglets!?! I thought that was just a sketch from the 'League of Gentlemen!'

My ex once got a mouthful by mistake, he found it a turn on, it turned my stomach. a couple of years later when I announced I was expecting baby no2, his first words to me were "will you let me drink breast milk"! The thought of it makes me want to throw up.

I had same prob when feeding and milk would pour from me! It never bothered dh.

I do wonder why dh loves sucking on my nipples though, especially after seeing me feed dd. He loves it while i find it hard to get my head around.

Great book that. It really makes you think. Especially the part about how much should breastmilk cost if it were available in the shops. I wish it could be available in the shops. Reckon it would be a real tonic for those who are recovering from illness or just under the weather.. . . . But it would totally freak people out, wouldn't it? Whilst drinking the milk of other species is totally normal.
