Do men like a bit of the' chase'?

Just this.
Thinking about this today . Do they like to have to chase their partner / girlfriend a little , generally ;in your experience ? A challenge perhaps?
I'm in what feels
To be a mutual , equal relationship . No waiting around for texts or calls and out plans are suggested by both of us and we don't let each other down.
Sometimes I wonder though if men do
Like to do a bit to do. A bit chasing or is that a teenage thing anymore ?

I think some men and women only like the chase, not all though.

4leggedmonkey · 09/03/2021 17:43

Do you mean that they only
Like the chase part of the relationship or that only some men and women like it ?Is it important to have an air of
Mystery and be vague sometimes ?

some people do, some people don't.

SportsBlah · 09/03/2021 17:46

I'm sure some do and done don't, I can't be arsed with games and dh likes that.

Spinachsarah · 09/03/2021 17:46

Some people only like that part as it’s like looking at yourself in a new shiny mirror with no flaws. They like the feelings not the person. Suppose when saying it’s nice to have some mystery and not be constantly available etc but that should be natural because you have a full life not because of some game playing etc.

If you have a happy relationship where neither of you is playing silly games and you're both being honest, fgs don't spoil it by being mysterious or weird or starting mindfucks.

4leggedmonkey · 09/03/2021 17:54

I won't be doing that . I'm just interested in people's thoughts .

Not a chase, exactly. But every partner I have had has said whether directly or in some other way, that they like being with someone who has their own interests and friends and is not just massively focussed on the relationship.

I noticed during lockdown 1 that I became overly focussed on my relationship, because I wasn't able to do some of my usual things. Once I brought back my personal goals my relationship improved and I was happier.

So that's not exactly answering your question, but I think it's related.

4leggedmonkey · 09/03/2021 18:24

Yes I understand that . I do wonder after lock down what will happen in our relationship . We're bubbled and can't see friends o r other family for obvious reasons but we are both craving time
With them despite really enjoying each other's company . I guess we will wait and see. We are perhaps too available as we only have each other to visit and spend time with right now .

Yes, I think some women tend to drop/downgrade the importance of friends and hobbies etc, and focus solely on the relationship - and that's quite smothering really.

seensome · 09/03/2021 19:06

I think it's expected of men to do most of the chasing and I can only say in my experience that they have respected me more when they've had to work at chasing me more, when you give it out easily on a plate and messaging them too much, asking for your next date etc, it's off putting for them. Depending on what you're looking for of course if it's a shag they'll think it's their birthday! If a woman chases them. If it's a relationship they want then a woman to impress who's is a little harder to attain because she knows her worth and isn't readily going to give herself to just anyone so he has to prove he's worth having by putting his words in action and making the effort.

TheSunshines · 09/03/2021 19:13

Absolutely and they only like the chase not what comes after.

Sillysandy · 09/03/2021 19:36

I think the games start when you pretend to have a full life. You actually should have a full life.

IJustWantSomeBees · 09/03/2021 20:22

Yes, I think they do.

Time40 · 09/03/2021 20:32

Yes, most men like a chase. Have you ever read The Rules, OP? I think The Rules is mostly true.
