Tell me your experience of emotionally abusive relationship

Hey all

I’m really struggling at the moment. My story is complicated. I have been in an emotionally abusive relationship for 12 years, I recently managed to leave the relationship but due to being abroad with his work I am still living with him for the next few months so the abuse is still going on.
But it helps me to listen to other people’s experiences. I don’t know about you but sometimes I feel like the only person in the world and I wonder if it’s all in my head (I know it’s not but sometimes I wonder) so it’s good to hear others experiences and to hear that there is light at the end of the tunnel. Share your stories 😊

If this is going to be a sharing stories of abuse thread, can you please ask MN to put a warning on it .

Sorry I didn’t think of that. I will try and remove the thread x

I'm sorry to hear you're struggling and please don't remove the thread unless you want . It's just not that a warning will be a good idea.

The thread title literally says what is going to be in this thread so I don't think it needs a further warning. OP, I'm in a similar boat to you so I'm interested in replies.

In the meantime Flowers for you

Sign up for The Freedom Programme while you wait to get out. Really, really helpful.

Contact SUTDA (Stand Up to Domestic Abuse) - they run the 12 week courses, 3 x a week for 12 weeks, so hopefully you'll be able to get to one. They also have a lot of knowledge as to where to find help, so they may be able to help you. They have women from many countries attending, despite the fact they're based in Wales... and you'll know you're not alone.
