sex - is anyone else a loose woman like me?

sex has just made a come back, but it ain't so good and i think it is laregly because i am so stretched from having popped out 3 DCs! I can see this is frustrating for DH. Has anyone else had this problem? Can you do anything about it? I've started doing pelvic floors when i remember - but not even sure if that has any point. After oldest 2, I seemed to ping back into shape rather nicely thank you, but dc 3 (now 2 yo) seems to have finished me off. I am officially a loose woman!

Know exactly what you're talking about!! There were a pair of women on ThisMorning when I was on mat leave who'd written a book about pf exercises who were really funny and this is their website www.shapeyourthang.com/exercise.html

"If you are not sure what the elevation of the pelvic floor is supposed to feel like, then here is a simple test and real eye opener! Place your thumb in your mouth and suck it. Do it nice and strong and see what you feel downstairs|! Weird! That is the pelvic floor being lifted. When the belly button is contracted that elevation is even stronger."

If the pelvic floor is functioning normally then when you stand up the floor should be closed and elevated. A quick test is to try and DROP the floor. In Women it is like a mushrooming effect down and out. You feel the vagina falls and the lips part. In men you can literally drop the testicles down. Now you should be able to close the lips and drink back up to the belly button or in men it is like taking the elevator to the first floor. If you cannot feel this - I am worried. For those of you that suffer incontinence this is a good way to assess whether the pelvic floor is functioning normally.

Repeat the exercise with the belly button drawn in towards the spine. Is the contraction stronger? It should be. Repeat the exercise 20 times daily. When you better - try doing it whilst driving or sitting at the desk, the elevation is really quite something here!

Heated... When I suck my thumb nothing happens downstairs?? When standing, I can't lift or drop my pelvic floor- nothing- nada . Am I up shit creek? LOL

suwoo · 02/11/2007 21:44

bump

Heated · 02/11/2007 22:08

That was from the website and it sort of worked for me. I've tried those cones from Boots and I'm bl00dy useless at them but really I need to work harder at doing them.

kellybrook · 03/11/2007 17:01

o god almighty i too feel NOTHING when sucking my thumb! fgs, I'm only 26 years old! this shouldn't be happening to me!!
doing pelvic floors every time I go on MN., is my new fool proof bound to succeed policy"!

electra · 04/11/2007 14:22

bump - thinking we should have a poll on this whole thumb sucking thing!

cluelessnchaos · 04/11/2007 14:34

i think they are taking the piss with the whole thumb sucking thing, they just want to have a laugh at hundreds of women sucking their thumsbs in front of the pc my thumb is v tingly now from being sucked so much

nORAYNonmybonfireplease · 04/11/2007 14:50

I think I'm making myself convinced something down there is happening but really it's not.

kellybrook · 05/11/2007 19:31

ok i seriously think we need a show of hands. or posts. or thumbs!
who can feel something when they suck their thumb?

Not me.

VictorianSqualor · 05/11/2007 21:27

Me, slightly. But it is possible I am imagining it.

TigerFeet · 05/11/2007 21:36

I can't multitask my pf exercises

I don't seem to be able to stop myself from gurning whilst I'm doing them

Monkeytrousers · 05/11/2007 21:37

Anyone else expect the OP to be from Madamez?

bananaknickers · 07/11/2007 12:48

Someone said to me once that do do pelvic floor excercises' you need to imagine you are sucking up a tissue with your fango. Anyone else stop breathing when they do them? Everyone knows what I am doing.

harrisey · 07/11/2007 14:38

Since mulit tasking is the best way to do them (in... out ...) isn't it just as well men dont have to do them or they'd never get anything done!

frumpygrumpy · 07/11/2007 14:46

PMSL x 1000 as I sit thumb in mouth, fanny bits quivering with all the tight/release cycles I'm doing

Mum2Luke · 07/11/2007 23:35

I think I could do with those cone things too after having had 3 kids. My one is a bit strrrretched too! I try to do the pelvic floor excercises when I'm ironing and waiting for a bus etc but I still am getting stress incontinence and am having to wear Tena ladies!!

I am thinking of having the big one (sterilisation)as I've done my bit for society and am 41 this year. I'm getting my life back at last. I wonder if I could be sewn up 'there' too and tighten the gaping hole that you could probably get a ferry through!!! .

Any way will have to book an appointment first for the dreaded smear!

goingfriggincrazy · 07/11/2007 23:55

Always has that raised eyebrow look about her face while lifting up and tighting said muscles down there...and tries not to hold breath

jasper · 19/02/2008 23:41

just found this.
Anyone been doing their pelvic floor exercises since this thread and seen improvements?

MuthaHubbard · 20/02/2008 08:28

It's not just the tightening of the muscle that helps, but also a slow release of the muscle iyswim?

Imagine your pelvic floor is a lift and try and take it 'up' ten floors (ie count to ten and tighten it a little further each time). Don't worry if you can't get to ten, five is a good start.

Then rather than just releasing the muscle, let the lift go back down ten floors - ie release a little at a time until it goes back to normal.

Do it as often as you can remember but at least several times twice a day.

Don't mean to be crude - but if you get surgery it doesn't matter how 'tight' the 'entrance' is if the muscles aren't tight also. He will feel the benefit as he'll feel gripped all the way along his length.

jasper · 20/02/2008 15:00

MuthaHubbard thanks for this.I will see if I can do it WITHOUT the funny faces I seem to want to do at the same time
