Is anyone starting the new year happier having moved on?

I am! A 10 year unhappy relationship finished and feeling the best I have for years despite the pandemic. I never thought I could leave him, I had no strength and despite his bullying I was weak and teary. It affected my mental health, my work, my eating, my sleeping, my self-esteem and I withdrew from my friends.

Hugs to all who are struggling & unhappy but hope there are some, like me, who start this year feeling that things are better than last.

I left an abusive marriage in summer. Since then, I've found a new partner, who could not treat me more kindly, my kids, despite living in two homes, are happy and I am getting back on my feet financially. It gets better day by day.

I went for a walk yesterday with friends (tier 3) and later they posted some of the pics on Facebook. It sounds odd to say but I saw the picture of myself and the huge smile on my face and realised it was the first picture with a genuine truly all consuming happy smile I’d seen in over a year. I have moved into the new year so happy my abusive ex is not in my life any more!
